Bit early for retirement talk, think I'd move him up to 154 for a couple of fights and see how it goes, feel sorry for him because he'd have strolled that pre GGG
No he should relax make the Khan fight @ 147 in November/December then move up to 154 and fight again by may/june next year
Well id hate to see another Margorito,I know know what folk mean when they say that fight took it out of him ect,Brook didn't have the sharpness he showed against Porter or the killer timing he showed against GGG and despite that before the knock down I thought he was doing ok but in truth when that other eye came up it manually put him right back to that night where that 160lb monster was just teeing off on him. Should he retire?all depends how his second op goes and how it heals cause obviously the repaired one held up lol, maybe he ends up like the terminator and gives it a final shot at 154lb division as I don't believe we will se him make weight again at welter even against Khan.
He did and it's not as if nobody called it either is it!i reckon all of us thought GGG was not only a surprise it was downright stupid just as Khan showed v Canelo moving up in weight is not something that should be done on a whim esp against the most feared middleweight of his generation. I used to think Brook was a ducker but Hearn did tell us that getting Brook fights at welter was hard and even Thurman said Brooks a yes man and wanted to fight Thurman after Porter but Hearn didn't want it,sad that this came into his thinking behind GGG as he wanted the big money, can't knock him for that as he probably thought why is it that the glass chinned Khan makes the big money despite him not having a title and yet I have to face GGG for a payday lol. Sad thing is if he'd of stuck it out he would of gotten the fights eventually and who knows without that baggage he may of done more against Spence but that's just speculation
Mentally he's been damaged and according to Hearn the docs told him after GGG that had he not of been pulled out he could of lost his sight, now that's info I'd maybe wanna have the doc keep to himself?
Nothing wrong with his heart...he was let down by his body again. He can make 147....but he can't make a 'fighting 147'. He's too strong to stay at WW, 4 years ago, he beats the Spence he fought tonight.....It's just too late at him for this weight. We should be glad fighters like Brook have the balls to step up to fights. Brook fought GGG when Thurman was unwilling to fight Brook.
He looked a bit gassed later on, I am sure the eye made him a bit paranoid in hindsight he may wish he kept going and took a loss on points or a KO.
Brook bowed down unto his knee before Spence approached him ready to give him an honourable end. That is not heart, he could still fight on but chose to quit. His eye didn't even completely close up he just started tapping it and even post interview he said it wasn't as bad as the GGG fight injury. The brook of 4 years ago would've got destroyed the same way. Spence answered everything Kell threw at him and made him choke on his own chocolate brownies. I'm a big kell brook fan but let's not delude ourselves, Spence was/is superior past and present.
So hard to know. When you have been told you might lose your vision if you continue that obviously plays big time on you psychologically.
