I was not particularly impressed with Spence tonight, except with his perseverance.

After 6 rounds, Froch had Brook up 5-1 on Sky Sports. That was about what I thought I saw.

Credit to Spence, he did adjust and come back. But Brook faded badly, too, and probably shouldn't have been in the ring in the first place since he was stopped only 8 months ago by GGG.

Khan's speech is deserting him at break neck speed.

He's repeating basic words and he sounds muffled.

If Khan and Brook take their health seriously, they need to agree a 50/50 split and both retire.

 

I don't think you have any ability to assess boxing. Brook looked good tonight. Spence was actually kind of embarassed that he was getting out skilled by Brook in most of the fight. Spence had to rely on pressure and combinations, not superb boxing skills. Brook also looked to be about the same speed as Spence. He also showed better timing.

This isn't to say that spence has NONE of that. He has probably more than most. I think Khan is probably much faster, but Spence would maul him and his glass chin. Khan also isn't as techincally skilled and has bad fundamentals.

Thurman has a little more boxing ability than Spence, but not as much as Brook. I foresee a Spence KO or UD against Thurman.

The fact that he was able to hang in with a guy who I believe is the best in terms of pure boxing skill in the division shows how good Spence is. Spence said he himself wasn't as sharp tonight, but I think he was just telling himself that because he doesn't want to believe that there is someone capable of outboxing him. (To be honest I think Brook had the best shot of doing that, but he made it past him).
