I am getting increasingly annoyed with Sky's filming of fights. The majority of the time they will use camera angles so close to the boxers with rapidly switching the perspective. What's happened to the classic way of filming fights, which HBO still does well- i.e. from front on showing the full ring? I find this gives the best perspective- able to see footwork and accurately assess and score the fight. Perhaps the mainstream fans prefer viewing fights from "all-action" angles but I think purists will agree that it betrays the art of boxing. Rant over.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this it only started recently Really getting on my wick.stops you seeing footwork or movement properly being filmed like a movie .Rubbish sort it out sky!.
haha, i noticed that too. The camera is too upclose. In my opinion, footwork is what separates great fighters from ordinary fighters. Although i dont remember them doing it for Joshua-Klitschko because i was in awe of Wlads amazing footwork in that fight.
I wish I could switch the commentary off but keep the sound of the fight. Can't be doing with the sky team, Jim watt was awful he really did swing with the crowd but it hasn't got any better since he's gone. Gotta say really not keen on them interviewing the fighters just before they fight either, I know it's not something new but it's never sat right with me As for the cameras they have done it with the football you just get a gauge for what's going on around the ball they get too close
Carl Froch always commentates from my memory. It's usually him, Bellew and sometimes Haye. Haye is the best out of the three.
The rapid switching of the cameras and the hard camera not being utlized was very disorienting. I definitely noticed it while watching the event. If I'm not mistaken, Showtime and Sky appeared to share the same camera feed, so it seems that you were getting the same camera angles whether you were watching on Sky or Showtime. I agree 100% that in general there are too many camera cuts, and HBO does a much better job of staying with the hard camera more often. I also dislike how there is a cameraman standing on the edge of the ring outside the ropes, one of these days a boxer is going to hit the ropes hard and the camera guy is going to go flying into the crowd. You don't need camera guys standing there on the ring, all you really need is the one hard camera the standard broadcast camera and other cameras can record the action for replays or for the occasional camera cut during the round. But yeah yesterday was just ridiculous. The perspective was constantly changing from one side of the ring to the other and many time it was just completely random and you had the ref blocking the view or a fighter's back blocking the view of the punches. The camera angles were truly awful. I blame Showtime, I'm guessing that one of their guys was controlling the feed for both Showtime and Sky. If I'm not mistaken usually Sky uses the hard camera more often than the did last night.
Haye best out the three jeez. Listen his commentary on Frampton v lsc worst ever and he got universally ripped to pieces for.
Embarrassing. Froch had someone called: "Spencer" 5 rounds ahead at one point, and Khan was mumbling along, referring to Spence as: "Thurman"
Watch it and listen to his commentary. Haye is the worst, also was terrible doing the Joshua fight few months back. Best few I have heard if your talking ex fighters smith, bellew, malignaggi and Roy Jones.
All networks are bad. I use to like sky the most but they're doing the same stuff hbo is doing, camera angles and all.
