Why isn't Carnera in the IBHOF?

Yes I remember that, perhaps Dundee, whose family name was Mirena was another "anti Italian ?"

 

You have to ask where Dundee would have gained his perception of Carnera from.

He might just have read Gallico's book!

 

Does anyone know what Arcel thought about Carnera?
I know he had a more direct experience with him.

Yeah because Dundee of Italian heritage, who followed the likes of Charley Goldman around like a disciple would not have been familiar with Carnera's career!

 

That was a response to a direct comparison to Gerry Cooney I believe and as such should be taken in that context.

Forget the fact that Carnera beat ranked opposition, the mere fact that he was ranked is a problem here!

 

I had a look but found nothing.

 

Still have not heard an honest rebuttal regarding why no one rates him as a top thirty heavyweight puncher despite 71 KO wins and an 80% career KO percentage.

 

Neither as a top 30 heavyweight, or a top puncher.
