Foreman of the cooney ko verses the liston of Patterson ko's.? Most head to head s involving liston and foreman have them at prime, so how does the foreman yet to challenge holyfield do against liston here? Liston himself was hardly a young man and may say his best days were already behind him. So foreman, whilst hardly prime, had yet to battle holyfield, stewart and moorer, so maybe a fresher version here.?

Liston for sure. He was still closer to peak.

How d you see it going John? Do you think foreman manages to shake liston up, hurt him?

Foreman wasn't overly fast in his comeback and Liston actually slips punches quite well. Foreman still hit hard and could well shake Sonny up a bit.

The latter measured version would probably have more chance of seeing the final bell than the peak version. I think Liston would put plenty of pressure on him and if George lasted he would be quite beaten up. He sure could soak 'em up in his comeback tho.

I have liston winning but I see it a hard slog and both of them getting hurt at some point. But liston get s more in than old George. I see it a combination of George s fight s against holyfield and Stewart but the out come being foreman losing by decision and pretty battered around the face.

Liston. Liston beats any version of Foreman imo

It wouldn't be easy but Liston is an underrated technician and i think that might show in this one.

No it definitely wouldn't be easy, no fight against George really was, who ever stood across from him.

Liston was susceptiple to an uppercut( did anyone actually EVER watch foreman fights when he came back? you guys talk as if hes a corpse walking in these threads ?? lol )

Liston also relied on size himself he would be heading towards a huge mack truck that had a chin of iron.Foreman would flatten liston and fast,it would be just like the Cooney fight except Liston was easier to hit and didnt have as powerful a punch as cooneys left hook( which didnt budge Foreman).

Theres just to many things Foreman had over Liston.

Size/Strength/Chin/ a better stronger jab which would stuff Listons forward lunging thus make him practically ineffective.

FAST counter punching was the way to get to foreman if one couldnt effectively stand in front of him....this was NOT liston.

    1962 vs 1990

213 Liston ( your version) vs 253 Foreman( your version)

One knocked out a 189 pounder the other Foreman knocked out a 230 plus one.......who was also 6'6. I would also add being 6'0/6'1 was a perfect height for Foreman to hit with those clubbing like shots.

The only sub 215 pounder i would ever see beating Foreman in the 90's would be Holyfield and Tyson ( both excellent counter punching skills) around this time though i would think he ( Tyson) would weigh slightly more. Holyfield had already showed too much speed in itself can get foreman, but he ALSO had that chin.Liston does not have the the intangibles to pull off how these guys fought.

    Foreman K.o rnd 2/3.

Lyle nearly dropped Foreman in rnd one...foreman in the 70's was much easier to stun/wobble..then the 90's foreman ,the fights SHOW this.

This is as big advantage for Foreman 1990 as he would get with a top guy had he fought liston in the 90's.......

No one could actually pick 70's Foreman over 90's if they took into consideration everything i posted on these threads unless they are that nostalgically biased ,particulary if they actually read my 70's vs 90's foreman which COMPLETELY outlines the differances.......come on now...lol

Foreman of 1990 would be UNLIKE anything liston ever fought...just look at the big HW's foreman had fought compared to what Liston had to go up against? This should be pretty clear who would most likely win this. Honestly dont know how any credible non biased person can come to any other conclusion after the last post i had up top ?

Heres an interesting article on those who troubled Liston i came across .....though nothing to do with an actual Bigger Foreman he would have faced.
