I don“t think it would work out like that.
The other two judges gave that round to Whitaker while he gave it to Chavez, making it a 2 point swing.
More judges should score rounds as even if they feel so. Would make for more even scorecards.
Or i might be wrong. I dont ****ing know.

i was at the fight, felt pea edged it.
for one of my favorite fighters, i will cherry pick some facts in his defense.
chavez had been calling out pea for years, and duva admitted they wanted none of it in those years.
chavez had to move up to his 4th division to challenge the younger man who was on his third division.

When I first saw the fight years ago I thought Whitaker was robbed. I watched it again maybe 2 years ago and while I did have Whitaker winning again I found the fight far closer than I initially believed.

Pea should've never taken that fight. The fight was in San Antonio of all places which is VERY close to the border of Mexico. It was a home fight for Chavez and he got a hometown decision (a draw was highway robbery.)

I like Julio as a fighter, but he got some very interesting decisions during his prime years. I won't delve into his cherrypicking from 1985-1990 (which for some reason never gets mentioned,) but when he started taking on top level competition on a consistent basis in the 90's, it seemed like the "powers that be" did their best to keep his record intact. They did a pretty splendid job of it for the first few years in the 90's.
