In the Ufizi gallery in Florence italy there is a room so awesome you are literallly not allowed to go in, it (aside from other awesome stuff) contains one of the earliest depictions of Pankration, a greek form of MMA http://blog.museumsecrets.tv/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/IMG_0032_wm.jpg
Whoa, that's surreal. Isn't it interesting how this statue must've gained so much more significance in the last 20 years from the UFC.
I was blown away when I saw it. Guy on the bottom needs to plant his shoulder and roll through. But the weirdest thing about it is the level of detail. Even HD pictures don't do it justice. You can literally see the veins in the arms carved from solid marble. The amount of time and dedication it takes to do something like that is mind boggling.
I've seen so much more of this world than I ever imagined. A rich girlfriend is a wonderful thing homie.
Just like Jack Dempsey said, "the farther you go back the tougher they get." Nice find Rez, always interesting to learn of boxings past. Especially so long ago.
