Pacquiao was great up until Cotto. After that he was taking the easy road and getting passes living on Mayweather's name.
He fought Clottey off a loss, Mosley off a loss, Margarito off of a year lay off no tune up, Marquez 600 times, Pulled up Bradley with 9 KOs from 140, Rios off a loss from 140, Chris from 140.
Just Mayweather beating the bigger Canelo will earn him props for the next decade.

Well what about Floyd?

DLH was coming off a 12 month layoff
Dragged Hatton up from 140
Dragged JMM up fot a catchweight and purposely missed weight.
Drained Canelo.
Judah was coming off a loss.
The great Brussels was coming off a draw.
Retired fighting Berto instead of a fighter like Thurman.

 

Both are great boxers and will be remembered as All time greats, but Floyd will be remembered as the number one of his era.

 

Maybe he didn't fight his opponents at the perfect 'peak' time, but he fought an awful lot of good fighters. His record is one of the best in boxing history, like him or not.

 

Yel,yel and Patterson had a bad back and Archie Moore was to old and Liston threw the fight and etc...etc....

 

Manny will always be considered greater.

Floyd was way way more talented , possibly the most gifted athlete of all at 140 and below. But he never ever tested himself in the way Manny did.

Some of Floyd fights were just plain terrible for boxing but good for his pocket.

Manny on the other hand brought a nation to a stand still when he fought.

Manny will be loved and remembered. Floyd will just be remembered.

It takes more than talent to be great.

There's no plausible argument as to why Mayweather should be considered greater than Pacquiao, NONE.

Pacquiao had an old-timers resume. Who makes the Top 10 GOATs? The old timers with their many losses.

Man to man? Yeah Floyd is probably the better of the two, at least when both guys were already long past their best. However Pacs career on it's own is more impressive.

 

Tbh, he was meant to be knocked out before he got anywhere near that stage. A little former lineal Flyweight champ, small enough to fight Finito Lopez. I feel that this little gnat being successful at welterweight for many years now is nothing short of impressive - because we don't have any examples of anyone in these divisions who become an ATG welterweight. It is like Naoya Inoue losing to Terence Crawford.
