Hector turns him all night and piles up the points. Bad matchup for Alexis---he wants a sloppy defense and a guy right in front of him.
I've gone Camacho by stoppage. But only if he has his best night and pulls it all together. He was something really special at 130lbs. I wouldn't confidently pick anyone from feather to lightweight against that blend of speed, power, imagination and (although we only got to see it later in his career) toughness if he has a good night. Alexis was great and would destroy a lot of opponents more handily than Hector would have but a primed, focussed Macho Man is all wrong for him. Although Hector was the naturally bigger man, I think Alexis' chances improve at 135 and probably peak at 140. Hector had lost his edge and some confidence by the time he got to these weights whereas Arguello just moved through the weights seamlessly. That's why he's viewed as the greater fighter overall but at 130lbs he was the lesser of the two fighters, in my opinion.
Really can't see Camacho having much of a chance at stopping Alexis Ezz, interesting prediction. Arguello had a helluva chin and Macho didn't hit that hard really. Safe bet that Arguello would pound away at the body of Camacho early and if the fight was over 15 i would not be surprised if things got dicey for Camacho late. Stylistically he's suited here and it's not hard to envision him taking a decision. We know if Arguello gets some big shots into him he's going to drop his workrate and run like hell as Pink Floyd would say. Fascinating matchup.
Alexis puts the pressure on camacho early on. Hector would go in to survival mode for much of the fight and arg pounds out a unanimous Dec.
Camacho would win the early rounds with his speed and movement but Arguello goes to the body and slows him down during the course of the fight and takes a close decision.
This is a good one. Camacho LOOKED unbeatable at 130 lbs. He was blinding of foot and hand. But, he never faced anyone nearly as good as Arguello. Camacho would start fast, moving around the stalking, plodding Arguello. Hector knows he cannot stand in front of Arguello. Alexis would try to land to the body and employ a plethora of straight rights. He would mostly hit gloves and air. During the middle rounds Camacho slows a tad and Arguello has a modicum of success. Finally, Arguello takes over in the late rounds landing to the body and head and forcing Camacho to hold. Camacho, for his part, punches back gamely. Arguello wins a close decision 6-5-1.
Hectors speed and movement is all wrong for Arguello. He'd shut him out over the distance. Lol@ at Hector losing by stoppage. The guy was never stopped in an 88 fight carer and he fought all the way up to super middle weight. And even more lol@ at 'flicking and running'.. Hector was very aggressive and had very good power in both hands.
Come on Mr.R . Let's be fair . Camacho at 130 lbs was one of the most dynamic fighters in the history of the game. Had ATG and maybe G.O.A.T all over him . His blitzkrieg of Rafael Limon in 82/83 is still one of the best performances against world class competition I've seen. He didn't become gun shy until after the Rosario fight. And that was at lightweight. I can easily see that version of Camacho giving Arguello hell. Winning A Unanimous dec.
A good one! The ring size might matter here, the larger the better for the hit and run Camacho. I'd lean toward Camacho on points, as he's not going to get trapped in the corners or trade much with Arguello.
Hector wins a wide ud. Alexis has his moments, but Hector has too much skill to lose this. And he would do the same to Salvador Sanchez had they met at 130.
Really? Watch Camacho and Boza Edwards , you'd have thought Boza had the Plague the way Hector ran! Camacho very aggressive? HA,HA,HA,
WHAT ! Salvador Sanchez would have destroyed his ass after running him down.It would have taken about 13 rounds to run Hector to ground and kill him.
