Yes. Call me whatever you want. It wont make you or seamus's incorrect observations correct. Although both of you please keep writing your science fiction. I enjoy them.
So, your argument stands that lightheavies of yesteryear punched harder than Wlad and Lewis did in their primes? Cool story.
I disagree. Going by the Johnson fight, when Willard unloads the right hand he does so at the right time and plants his feet in such a way to ensure maximum power transfer. He doesn't put his hip into the punch as much as he should but he doesn't look different than other giant heavyweights of today that I have seen such as Anthony Joshua.
Well we've got some distance between us in this discussion. Do you supposed that the whole trend of bigger, stronger, faster that has occurred in every other sport just missed boxing or was the concept just flawed to begin with?
Yeah I'm ou t school for summer got a little too much time on my hands. The faster part definitely did. The hw's anyway. Boxing seems to be one of the few sports where more size and strength. doesn't equal more speed.
Bigger is mostly all about Roids. Today's hwts are not faster nor can they fight the championship distance. Ensure Roids are truely banned and make championship bouts 15 rounds and the era of WWE boxing would be over.
Imo it all depends on the era. Glove size and fight distance make a big difference in terms of training/defensive techniques etc.
Its not like other sports though. You don't have to sprint in boxing or use any other tools aside from fists. Walter Payton was fantastic 30-40 yrs ago and would be just as good today.
This is a complete disservice to modern training knowledge that has been backed by exhaustive research and testing. You need to follow some current S&C coaches. I love the bristling over modern training regimens but the simultaneous blasse attitude towards the color line and mob controlled champs.
You don't have a clue. All the hwts today at a high level take Roids. Take those away and you would see many tall lanky Hwts. Training is all well and good...,,question however is can they really FIGHT. Predominantly the WWE hwts are a made up fantasy to please the typical WWE fan such as yourself. The color line was produced from a heavily prejudice culture and had little to do with the individual fighters themselves. The ROID WWE boxing era is all about the individual fighter doing everything they can to become bigger and stronger even via cheating. All to please fans like YOU.
