Golovkin showed a lot of skill and defense against Jacobs, a cruiserweight who refused to take a drug test, like SOB who is refusing to take a drug test for the Kovalev fight.............Golovkin knocked him down, late in the fight Golovkin staggered, took the legs out from under Jacobs with a left jab..................good thing it was at the end for the round, the bell saved Jacobs.................all Jacobs did was run...............Good thing Golovkin took it easy on Jacobs, but it worked, El Pollo decided to fight Golovkin at last..................but I will still not believe it until after El Pollo gets into the fight. El Pollo's wing punch will not hurt Golovkin and the feathers soften the blows as well..........

Agreed. But it has nothing to do with Trout, Lara or Mayweather. Different stiles.

 Never said it did. I was just trying to put their current form into the proper perspective. Both struggled with pure boxers, only GGG has faced them more recently than Canelo, GGG has been facing guys who don't make him look good, whereas Canelo has been facing guys that make him look good, or at least are supposed to.

So Canelo will miraculously grow 6 inches, get surgery to lengthen his arms by 3 1/2 inches, become a savage KO artist, rehydrate up to Cruiserweight and learn to be a slick switch hitter that primarily fights out of the southpaw position? Damn that's what I call dedication. Talk about triangle theories. Once again IKSAB, YDKSAB.

Somehow I have a feeling if Canelo had fought Jacobs before Golovkin fought him, you'd have been extolling his virtues and talking about how Canelo isn't half the counterpuncher Danny is isn't nearly as adept at fighting off the backfoot or controlling range and that Danny will school his ass.

I thought I explained it pretty clearly in my post. Canelo will counter off the backfoot much like Jacobs did, the fact you think he'll fight 'nothing like Jacobs did' shows you aren't qualified to even start analyzing this match up. Weight and reach has nothing to do with gameplan or style. This is basic stuff.

You're way too emotionally invested in fighters to break fights down properly, this is partly why your predictions are so lousy. Its hard to take anything you say seriously. I know you haven't been watching boxing for very long, so you'll probably get there one day. Hang in there.

Weight and reach determine how well that gameplan will work though.

Since Jacobs > Canelo in weight and reach AND punching power, there's reason to believe Canelo's going to do even worse.

No doubt but I was talking purely about the approach Canelo will take to the fight. It wont be dissimilar to Jacobs gameplan like the OP states. Canelo will rehydrate huge anyway, wont be too far off Jacobs weight against GGG. Length is a factor but Jacobs didn't use his that well, despite being on the backfoot he didn't really fight tall and ate too many jabs as a result. Canelo will slip the jab much easier imo, his head and upper body movement is on another level to Jacobs and although he doesn't crack as hard he's a much crisper more accurate counterpuncher with faster hands.

I still believe this will be a close competitive fight tho, don't think we will see a blowout either way and wouldn't be shocked at all if Canelo got starched. I just think the most likely result is Canelo grinding out a decision.

Well if it goes 12 and Golovkin isn't massively ahead I also expect Canelo to get the decision.

I think Canelo will look good in the early going but get worn down for a late stoppage. If Golovkin was just some wild slugger I'd agree Canelo could pull it off, but he's more than that.

Should be a great fight whatever happens, though. I just can't see these two put on a boring performance.

Way better than McWeather and MayGregor

Great post, I agree with about 95 % of what you said. I also don't
believe Canelo has progressed as much as claimed, clearly he's gotten
somewhat better, but the opponents have regressed.

No its not. Its merely asking a few questions, the answer has no bearing on who will or will not win the fight. Canelo struggled with Trout and Lara the first time, there's a high probability he'll struggle with them again, and stylistically Brook and Jacobs are not made to order for him.
