How much different would the May-Pac fight be if it were 2009 opposed to 2015?

Floyd beats him easier, Manny was too reckless in 2009. When Marquez KO'd him it made Pac more conservative which in turn made the 2015 less exciting. Manny of 2009 would have been countered to death. He would have had his odd flurries here and there but Floyd would have won.

 

You don't see it because you don't want to. It's absolutely absurd to suggest otherwise. Semi-shot does not mean 'sucks'. You're mentioning B minus level fighters, too.
This is also precisely what made Duran so great, venturing into higher weight classes whilst being finished versions of himself and still getting the win.

Manny would've been young but so would Floyd, and Floyd's reflexes
were even better in 2009, Manny would've gotten the business
end of a UD back then as well.

Some people act like the Floyd, Manny fought wasn't an older
shopworn (for Floyd) version as well. This fight wasn't someone in
their prime vs. not prime, it was even (not prime vs. not prime.)

Pac loses possibly even wider, although 118-110 is pretty wide to begin with.

 

So we`re just going to ignore that Pac was nowhere near the fighter he was when they finally fought, was injured and post ko6? Floyd was older but by far still closer to his prime than manny. Im not saying Manny wins but to say the fight plays out the same way is insane.

exactly. i think floyd will have the edge still, he would be at his absolutely ideal weight, against a guy with some artificial lbs.
when i rate a fighter p4p, i take into account both the floor and ceiling when measuring them. floyds ceiling is probably 154, where he would beat most, but would lose to a hof'er in his prime. he climbed through 4 groups of fighters to that ceiling. pacs ceiling is 147, where you can make him competitive with or better than most hof'ers, but would lose to most atg's. but, pac had to climb through 6 groups of fighters, while skipping 2 groups that he could have no doubt beat, to get to that ceiling.
you could argue that floyd could have done the same thing, given identical circumstances. fact is, he didnt.
i still think that both at their peak and 100% results in a pac win.

Both could have made 140 and both would have been physically strong as they were ever going to be.

Both lost a touch after 2010. Legs and work rate started to go on them.

2015 was retirement territory for both. Different animals.

 

In 2009 they each make 20 mil and pac gets knocked out. The physical disadvantages were never going to change.
