What if the weight achieved in one era is more functional than weight achieved in another era? It means the usual argument of ruling out smaller fighters is not possible in a level playing field. You don't care because you have no argument. You have most likely spent a life time rating an unproven man on what he looks like beating up on a lower level of fighter. And putting the notion that he beats any great fighter who happens not to have enhanced himself the modern way to look as muscled.
I don't mean to insult anyone here, but guys always have rose colored glasses about their favored era. I just have one question; do you guys think that Jack Lambert at 208 lbs. would be playing Middle Linebacker for the Steelers today? I wonder that every time I see one of these "Marciano vs. Anthony Joshua" threads.
Does he look significantly more impressive than this photo of Jim Jeffries taken over a 100 years ago? This content is protected
Functional weight is a term describing excess weight that can be used as an asset. It is not always an asset. but today methods allow that weight can be more successfully gained without encumbrance to the fighter.
yes I think Ike makes Jeffries look like the "before" guy who got sand kicked in his face in the Charles Atlas ads
