According to one poster here, boxers started learning how to jab properly when Sonny Liston became champion.

That depends on your definition of a giant. If you mean 6'4" to 6'8" guys, I say in the 1980's.

But Carnera didn't have bad technique and he was around in the 1930's.

Well you can start by not talking on the internet. Sarcasm isn't communicated through text.

Says boxing. You throw a right cross a certain way. Pivoting the foot, turning the hip, snapping the shoulder and extending the arm. Those are the fundamentals of throwing a punch. If you think there is another way to throw a right cross then you are wrong. There is no room for debate. There isn't record of some original guy who made it law to punch a certain way. That's just how it is done.

You said that Liston and Ali revolutionized the jab.
And that it was revolutionized again in the 80's.

Yes, I theorized that they had revolutionized the heavyweight jab and that the full sea change probably wasn't evident until the 1980s.

What aspects of their jab were revolutionary?

But what if a fighter doesn't do exactly that yet still knocks his opponent out, you can shove your textbook where the sun don't shine flower......
