I would favour Degale if Degale boxes. Degale does have a habit of fighting to the level of his competition and getting in tough fights that I think he could win with less trouble if he boxed, but I would still pick for Degale at this time.
I agree with you here. I think Eubank Jr's workrate makes this a good matchup but DeGale is the better boxer and wins by decision.
Eubank Jn takes breaks in fights too, walking away nonchalantly like his dad used to do but the reality is that he's having a rest. It's clever to be fair. Degale would win almost every round imo. Yes he takes his foot off but he's capable of winning a round with just 20-30 seconds of letting his hands go. Jack is a much much bigger, stronger, better pressure/workrate fighter than Eubank Jn and Degale managed put him on his backside early on. He is quite capable of doing the same to Eubank Jn. Seriously, apart from his surname, what has Eubank Jn done to deserve a crack at Degale? He's had one joke fight at SM that's it.
I agree Twentyman. We can't even say CEJ has improved since his fight against BJS because he hasn't actually fought even a fringe world class fighter at Middleweight, nevermind Super-Middle! Nothing to gauge him at all. It's not like he's a natural super middle either. I'll say this again, you can have the best 'engine' in the world, but your not going to be able to impose that on an opponent as well who is better skilled and will be landing clean shots. Eventually it slows a fighter down. I've not seen anything that makes me think, he can impose a high work rate style against a far superior boxer. I just see him getting tagged a lot.
De Gale wide UD CEJ is in his comfort zone with his WWE Toys R Us belt, fighting 11-1 opponents on PPV, whilst calling himself the world chumpion. Unintended comedy.
As people have said above, he nowhere near deserves a shot. He takes massive rests, probably more than Degale and that's against poor opposition. He's explosive and fast but not that powerful and I just don't understand the hype. I think he'll probably beat the slow, plodding well past it big rock head AA by decision but if he fought Degale he'd find that his speed counts for little. He'll get timed by a far better boxer who hits harder than most give him credit for.
Good point. His showboating hides some things I suppose. And yeah, he's done nothing to deserve that fight. He hasn't beaten a good name in his whole career, let alone at super middleweight. Only him and his dad think they deserve a shot.
You're right. He's far too wild, and he does seem pretty much the same as he was a couple of years back. Thinking about it I now think this one will likely be a somewhat one sided decision to DeGale.
Yes mate, next time he goes walkies around the ring watch his mouth it's either gaping open or he's forcing it shut and breathing through his nose. It's obvious but so many seem to not notice he does this for a rest.
