I don't like comparing opponents with regards to the 'style make fights' cliche, but.....

Molina was outboxing Wilder and landing, even after getting knocked down he was throwing. Whereas against AJ, the second he felt his speed, power and the fact these punches were arriving in quality combinations, he stopped his wild swings and simply tried to survive.

Molina reckons AJ does a demolition job on Wilder, I agree.

Lets face it, we all know Wlad KO's Wilder too.

Molina took Wilder to the brink. What a classic war that was by two of the most skilled boxers in recent history. One for the ages!

 

Molina almost joined the Deontay Flatteners club.

I think Molina was intimidated, not only by Joshua, who quite frankly is a ridiculous specimen of a human being, but the fact this fight was outside of the US in an unfamiliar environment in front of so many loud British fans.

Fighting Wilder in front of a few thousand in Alabama is very different from fighting Joshua in the UK in front of a huge crowd who are far more vocal than US fans. The atmosphere combined with the size of the task in front of him resulted in a far more timid Molina.

 

Yeah I think so as well, for all the reasons you mentioned.

 

Both Joshua and Wilder won by ko. Now it comes down to who was more impressive(I don't care about that ****)...at least to some of you(not you personally). But I always fall back on Foreman beating Frazier and Norton more impressively than Ali did and Ali stopping Foreman. Being more impressive matters to fans not the fighter in the end.

 

That's a fair point. But Joshua has CONSISTENTLY looked better against the same level of opposition and beyond. I would bet good money that if he were to step in with Szpilka, Duhaupas, Washington etc. that he would also beat those guys more impressively than Wilder did.

No he hasn't. To you he has but not me. They both look impressive. It just comes down to who you like. You like Joshua and I like both.

 

How hasn't he looked more impressive? Wilder has consistently gone rounds since stepping up to fringe world level, not only that he's looked unimpressive in almost every one of them.

Joshua beat Martin and Breazeale FAR more impressively than Wilder beat Washington... Who actually took rounds and was arguably ahead when stopped. Wilder looked extremely poor in that one, where as Joshua dominated and didn't even come close to losing a round against Martin or Breazeale.

Obviously there's the Molina fight which is what this thread was about... Joshua looked far more impressive there.

Wilder was busted up against Duhaupas, outboxed by Szpilka in large portions of their fight, hurt by mediocre Molina, dropped rounds to Washington.

Compare that to Joshua who's only struggles as a pro were being hurt briefly by Whyte, and then Klitschko who at 41 is still far more tried and proven at world level than Wilder or any of his opponents.

Joshua has clearly impressed more than Wilder... It's not even up for debate.

 

Joshua would tear through Wilder like a train through a plywood barrier. DW would be better off just handing over his belt.
