No its not a thread to discredit Josh in the slightest. I like the guy and proud of what he's done. If any thing I've bigged him up a few times against fighters that other s have thought he'd lose to. It was a thread started out of interest how people see AJ doing against common opponents of Bruno, that's all.

The most guys in the classic section would see him lose to anyone from the past, it's ridiculous, it's simply not
realistic that AJ would lose to all of those guys and you are one of the guys who are saying that he would lose to McCall and Witherspoon so either you don't know anything about boxing or you are trying to discredit him and Wladimir Klitschko.

No its definitely not just u. Think that's just the way he fights, favouring one hand to the other.

I actually stated I could see him defeating spoon and mccall. And giving Lewis a rocky few rounds. Im not naive enough to think he defeats Lewis or tyson at the point they faced Bruno, but I don't see him crumbling in the first round either.

Lewis was at the same stage as Anthony Joshua in 1993 and i can't see how this would not be a close fight, it has
nothing to do with being naive.

I think you have your wire s crossed here. I'm not the one painting a poor picture of Joshua. Read back through my posts, I've stated he does well against all four. He rocks tyson, he hurts Lewis, he beats spoon and mccall. Other s have said he loses to them all, not me!

I can't take you guys seriously anyway, i think the most guys in the classic section are living in the past and don't
even follow modern boxing, i think they see it as an insult to the history of boxing and the era they were growing
up in to say a modern fighter like Anthony Joshua would beat even a fringe contender from any era of the past, i
think it's not even funny anymore, i think it's bizarre.

Ok that's your pov but do you see AJ beating Lewis or tyson. Not talking about spoon or mccall, just those two. And if you do how do you see it going? I'm curious that's all.

I know there are a couple of guys who can be a bit biased here, but neither of me or Fergy are suggesting this. I personally see his fight with Lewis being a toss-up as Lewis was more raw at the time than Joshua is now. I also think Anthony beats Frank himself.

I think he would have beaten Witherspoon and McCall simply because both of them were not on his level, you guys
are imagining hypothetical matchups the wrong way with the abilities of one fighter exaggerated, usually the
abilities of the Joshua opponent because you guys want him to lose, as i said boxing is not a science, it's a combat
sport and Anthony Joshua is bigger and stronger than those both guys and has the better abilities, how should he
not win, realistically ? This is the better question.

He would give Mike Tyson a lot of problems win or lose and he would probably beat 1993 Lennox Lewis in a competitive fight, i can't see how anyone would have an easy time with Anthony Joshua.

That's fine, that's your opinion. But we're not trashing aj by a long shot. And as for saying we live in the past, that's a insult to a lot of posters on here. Not all modern day boxers have the monopoly on winning just because one guy was born in 1960 and another was born in 1980.

It's just the way it is, i didn't say all but the most are living in the past.

I wasn't saying that every modern boxer is better than the boxers from the past, this isn't true, i was only talking
about Anthony Joshua vs Tyson, Lewis, Witherspoon and McCall and tried to be realistic and not nostalgic like the
    most are.

Is this directed at yourself and me Fergy? I was born in 1960..............

On a more serious note Okin 129 I don't think anyone is trashing AJ, it all looks quite the opposite in fact, with most people including Choc, Fergy and myself seeing future potential and greatness providing he continues with schooling and regular fights with increasing better opposition. He isn't at the very top as yet. Witherspoon, Tyson and Lewis did get there.

Most of us think Anthony has a good chance of dominating the division for the next few years. I think Anthony beats McCall by decision, but there are still question marks. Would Anthony try to outpoint him for a decision? Or would he try to bomb him out and fail to do so, resulting in McCall coming on strong late and potentially stopping him. I and most others can still judge pretty well who would win already, but there are still some questions that could be answered by Anthony in the future, such as his ability to win by decision. That's all. In general, I think we're being fair about his chances.
