How does AJ do in Bruno's title shots?

As i said Lewis was at the same stage as AJ in 1993, he wasn't in his prime, watch his fights, i don't think he was
better than Anthony Joshua at the time and i don't think that Witherspoon, Bruno and McCall were better fighters
than Anthony Joshua.

Joshua is an olympic gold medalist and unified heavyweight champion, how can you say that Witherspoon was at the very top and Joshua is not ? He has already surpassed Witherspoon, McCall and Bruno not only by achievements, he is a better fighter now than they were, i don't need to wait until the end of his career to say he would beat them.

 

Bruno doesn't have to be a better fighter than Joshua Just because I can't see Joshua beat the guys who Frank lost to. The guys who beat Bruno were great and in their prime.

You are missing the huge compliment I am giving him. Joshua will be better than Bruno. He just isn't yet good enough to beat the guys who beat Frank. But in time he might prove to be.

 

Anthony Joshua was leading on points against Wladimir Klitschko, i think it's more difficult to outbox Wlad as it would be to outbox McCall and Witherspoon, i think it's a little bit ridiculous to question his ability to win by decision when he knocked everyone out and was leading on points everytime.

 

Nonsense, he would beat at least 2 out of those 4 guys and he would have a good chance to beat all of them, you're a simpleton.

 

Isn't it ironic? Didn't you just admit that you have seen all of Joshua's fights (some of them many times over) whilst admitting you only watched Bruno losing fights?

 

I had Wlad 2 points up until the 11th round. Others may have had Anthony up, but I think most had Wlad up slightly. He hasn't been the distance once, so I find it somewhat difficult to judge his ability to win by decision. I think he outpoints McCall, I'm fairly confident about it, but he hasn't proven it yet so I do understand why someone would question him winning against McCall, who he wouldn't be able to knockout or even drop.

 

Bruno nearly lost all of his meaningful fights and the most guys he fought and won against weren't really good, so i think it's logical to watch the fights where he was competing at elite level.

 

But the point is the Witherspoon who Bruno fought had beat guys like Tubbs, Page, Tillis, Snipes, bonecrusher and given Larry Holmes life and death.

You are talking about levels here. But a winning fighter must be measured against the level he is winning fights. Charles Martin, Garry Cornish ffs!

Lewis against Bruno was a world champ. He's already beat Bowe in the Olmpics, he's beat Weaver, Ruddock, Biggs and Tucker. Think about it. Who had Charles Martin beat again?

Tyson? He had knocked out Thomas, Berbick, Larry Holmes, Tony Tubbs and Micheal Spinks already. Compare this to Eric Molina?

Sure we know all the guys Wlad beat. He was coming off a loss. 41 year old ex champion had been inactive a very long time...and because Josh was so raw he came within a kippers eyelash of winning!!

 

AJ won the first 5 rounds and the 9th round in my opinion, the 10th round could also be scored for him, it couldn't have been purely based on having 2 more knockdown because the 11th round wasn't scored because that was the round where he stopped Wlad.

 

Actually yeah you're right. I forgot that Anthony only dropped him once in round 5. Don't know why I thought otherwise. Sorry about that, it was one each going into round 11. I don't remember the exact scores for rounds but I had it 2-2 in the first 4 rounds, 5 to Anthony (10-8), 6 to Wlad (10-8), and I had it 3-1 to Wlad from rounds 7-10. So I had Wlad 2 points up.

 

I think the most agreed that AJ won the first 5 rounds, he was more active and was landing more punches in each
of those rounds, the compubox stats also show that AJ won the first 5 rounds.

 

What we must remember is that Bruno only lost to champions. No-one can take that away from him.

 

Hmm I'm not sure mate. Having said that he was winning some rounds on activity as you pointed out. I must also say that there is more to it than Compubox stats as well.

 

The first round was close but he was clearly winning the following 4 rounds, i can remember that i scored the first
5 rounds for him, i watched the fight multiple times and i scored it always the same, two of the judges also scored
the first 5 rounds for him.
