I think it will hurt Canelo-GGG ppv buys quite significantly, probably in the order of 300k buys or so.

It's late August too. I'm thinking Mayweather is doing this to try to hurt Oscar, or at least to get in before Canelo-GGG, they've been fighting a war of words for a while now.

edit: Just to be clear, I think Mayweather-McGregor does between 2 and 3 million buys. I think Canelo-GGG does about 1 million if made after Mayweather-McGregor, 1.3 million if Mayweather-McGregor doesn't happen. Maybe a little more, but still less than 1/2 of May-Conor. I could be wrong of course!

    Prediction:

Floyd lets McGregor be competitive for rounds one and two and even fakes being hurt.

In round three, Floyd picks up the pace and starts tearing McGregor apart. He lands straight right after straight right and McGregor doesn't have an answer. Floyd continues peppering him for three more rounds while showing off his defensive brilliance every time McGregor lunges to hit him.

In round seven, Floyd finally knocks McGregor down for the first of two knockdowns. When it looks like McGregor is nearly out on his feet, the Big Show arrives out of nowhere. While Floyd gestures to the crowd with a bolo punch maneuver, the Big Show grabs a steel chair and smacks Mayweather across the back with it, nearly knocking him out cold. McGregor stands Floyd up and puts him in a sleeper hold before the ref counts to three and declares him unconscious. Mayweather loses his first professional "fight," drama builds, and Mayweather/McGregor Two: Revenge in the Cage is announced within two weeks.

    Buckle up, everyone.

i dont mind. does anyone think this will tarnish floyds good name?
the sht talk should be hilarious, thats where the real entertainment will be. it will probably be a bit one sided, since floyd has to build up connor for the illusion to work, but watching floyd deal with connors jawing while having to build him up, should be plenty entertaining in itself.

I haven't bought a PPV in years. Usually go watch PPV fights at a sports bar or house party.

As long as its promoted as a glorified sparring session/exhibition, than I guess I'm ok with it.

Ali had a couple fights in the 70's against non-boxers (i.e. Lyle Alzado, Antonio Inoki,) but they were viewed as exhibition fights, and rightfully so.

Anyway it looks like Nevada's athletic commission is approving this as a boxing match and a win for Mayweather will bing him up to 50. I'd rather see him take on anyone in the top 10 at WW to get # 50, but the money is just way too good to pass up on.
