As of two weeks ago it's certain that Fury broke at least 2 (edit: make that 3 as of today) of the 7 rules for him to be able to keep the Ring belt, which is the only one he had left. But he hasn't been stripped as of yet. Here are the seven situations in which a champion can lose his belt: The Champion loses a fight in the weight class in which he is champion. The Champion moves to another weight class (for more than one fight). The Champion does not schedule a fight in any weight class for 18 months. The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight). The Champion does not schedule a fight with a Top-5 contender from any weight class for two years. The Champion retires. The Champion tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance. He might have actually broken 4 already, but that's a bit of a grey area, and is probably on his way to break another pretty damn soon. Do you think he should be stripped, or do you think he can hold it for at least a little while longer? edit: As of today, there can' t be a technicality anymore...
he should definitely be stripped, the ring magazine must know he's a long way of ever fighting, i don't get why they wouldn't want someone else to have it, and yes he has already broken some of the rules and possibly more.
Because obviously he always gets unfairly treated purely down to the fact he's a gypsy, that's why they've allowed him to keep the belt with no intention of ever defending it, wait what?
atleast 2... Arguably these two could be added... The Champion retires. The Champion tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance.
Yeah, dont get me started really how they push that narrative. He is his own worst enemy and brings so much of the negativity on himself yet blames everything on this anti gypsy thing... no you just **** too many people off! ha
He doesn't have anything officially sceduled, so that one won't work. Wlad got away with that one once for rule #5. Sceduled inside 2 years, but took place over 2 months after.
course it would work, especially if he gets stripped and appeals. if what you posted is the exact wording of the rules, then they can't strip him as he did have a SCHEDULED fight within an 18 month time frame. Completely ridiculous but if thats what it says in the rules, not much you can do
At some point the sport just has to move on. The Ring completely dropped lineal Champion, Foreman from their ratings in 1996 and rightfully so.
