Canelo isn't a ko fighter, hes main attribute is strength imo. GGG fought much bigger punchers than ginge. His chin is solid. There is no concern of him getting ko'd, more out pointed or robbed

Graziano was a far more dangerous puncher than Canelo. The right was legit against anyone, ray robinson was put on ***** street with it. Canelo isn't what i'd call a dangerous fighter unless hes out weighing opponents

Relevance is not dimished. Most of the 154 fighters Canelo beat are just young enough and dedicated enough to be able to effectively cut weight, but in reality most of them weigh what Golovkin weighs on fight night.

Mosley-Mosley was 40 years old and had not beat a rated fighter above 154 since 2006, the Vargas wins. Prior you have the controversial Oscar win nearly a decade before the Canelo fight. His only other noteworthy fight at 154 in recent history relevant to Canelo was a disappointing performance against a fairly washed up Mayorga.

Is Cotto really proven at 154? I'm not so sure Cotto has every really been bought as a Middle or Light Middle force. He has good wins in Margarito II, Martinez, Geale, and Foreman, but the circumstances are questionable. Credit to Cotto for taking care of business but the wins just didn't leave the impression that he is a genuine 154+ threat. Never mind, Canelo was estimated to have anywhere from a 10-20 pound advantage when they fought and didn't make the impression many hoped he would against an older smaller man.

James Kirland was destroyed by 22-6 Ishida, a guy Golovkin knocked out. He might have one solid win against Angulo, whom wasn't very good.

Alfredo Angulo was outboxed by 3-1 underdog journeyman Cintron. Destroyed by Kirland. Is 4-5 since 2011. His best win might be Rosado via a non penalized punch on the break. He pretty much is a journeyman.

I really don't think much of either guy, and I would rate Lemieux over them. And can't see much of an argument for them being better than Stevens.

Canelo best win in his entire career is Lara and that is questionable to some.

People say Trout too was a good win but Trout was irrelevant before he fought Cotto. I guess style do make fights because Trout bear Cotto but after Trout fought Canelo he went back to obscurity. Trout did nothing special before or after his Cotto win.

The other Canelo wins consist of washed up names, has beens, or in some cases were nothing special like Kirkland who got KO by Ishida.

Explosive?! Canelo? He's only explosive when he's fighting glass jawed fighters, like Khan and Kirkland. He's so not explosive that he couldn't even rock small chinny Cotto!

What about Cintron? Alvarez stopped Cintron in 5 rounds, he's the only guy besides Margarito to ever stop Cintron.

As a comparison, a Prime Martinez back in 2009 wasn't able to stop Cintron like Canelo did, in fact Prime Martinez didn't even beat Cintron, the fight was declared a draw. Cintron is undefeated since the loss to Alvarez, including 6 wins and 2 draws, and one of those draws is to Adrian Granados, the guy who just went life and death with Adrien Broner in a very close split decision.

Alvarez stopping Cintron in 5 rounds has got to be one his best wins when you consider the great Maravilla couldn't do that in his prime, and the fact that for all his faults Cintron is a highly skilled boxer with good defense. The fact that Alvarez was able to stop him in 5 has to count for something.

Canelo has respectable power but is not a puncher by any mean. He failed to knockout all of his opponents that could, at the time he faced them, be considered as threats. He doesn't pack the kind of power that can budge Golovkin.

Martinez actually KO'ed Cintron at the end of the 7th. The rest of the post is probably a bad joke.

Cotto NEVER LEGITIMATELY beat Antonio Margarito. Margarito was blind in one eye from round 2 & took everything Cotto threw at him. Cotto started to wilt AGAIN!! >Magarito was beting his chest at Cotto Only then did that NY doc stop the fight. Not to save Margarito's eye but to save Cotto the embarrassment of QUITTING on his knees again !!!!!

Martinez knocked Cintron down at the end of the 7th, but he didn't knock him out. Cintron was up at the count of 9. There was confusion since the bell for the end of the round rang right as he got up, and Cintron was claiming it was a headbutt, which it wasn't.

Again, Alvarez stopped a guy in 5 rounds that not only went the distance with Prime Martinez, but managed a draw against Martinez despite suffering that knockdown. Martinez couldn't get Cintron out of there. He came close at the end of the 7th, but couldn't and it resulted in a draw. That's got to be a quality win for Alvarez, stopping the guy that drawed Prime Martinez.

How am I trolling? Martinez did not stop Cintron. Cintron was up at 9 and he went on to go the distance and get a draw. That same guy two years later Canelo stops in 5 rounds. Canelo knocked Cintron down in the 4th and had him out of his feet at the end of the 4th but the bell saved him. He then closed the show in the 5th. How is that not an impressive win? No one aside from Margarito and Canelo stopped Cintron. Martinez came close but couldn't do what Canelo did. Couldn't even beat the guy. Just a few days ago we were comparing Martinez and Canelo and who had more power, but the focus was on JCC Jr and we forgot to mention Cintron, another common opponent.
