He was involved in a number of controversial decisions over his long reign as IBF SMW champ. Did he get some homecooking or were all the outcomes on the level?

The slurs about ottke are a disgrace imo.i saw every second of his world title fights....the reid fight was a pathetic display by reid of whining instead of fighting...yet reid is onevof my favourite british fighters of the 90s ....equally brewer was beaten twice cleanly.. the starie fight is another old mothers myth...i think swen beat byron mitchell too....the only guy who outboxed ottke was anthony mundine ...it was a shutout until ottke put him unconscious with one right....sven was a thing of beauty....a fantastic amateur...34 wins yet only 6 kos yet......when he fought he would charge at his foes who would be forced to retreat or cover up...something about his punches did that...even future LH champs the bigger silvio branco and glencoffe johnson had to do that....i think ottke is the most underrated fighter of the last twenty years.....calzaghe is the most overrated based on a horrible decision over a deserving hopkins...beating s shot rjj and a overhyped lacey.....both ottke snd froch would have beaten joe......incidentally an interesting fight thst could have happened was herol graham -ottke....brewer was losing before stopping graham late ...so brewer met ottke instead

I never saw him fight. He has to be the most obscure long-reigning champ ever. Did he ever fight outside his homeland?

    Won them all.

The opponents never penetrated that defense of his. Some bouts were close of course but Ottke did win his rounds and nobody ever had an easy night's work with the guy. At their best, all opponents could do was make it close on the cards as in 7-5 or 7-4-1 type fights.

One of the most deceptive fighters of living memory...more like 5ft 8 than 5ft 10...supposedly no power....yet when he charged at usually bigger aggressive foes (branco, brewer, johnson) they would end up being backed up and discouraged.....he had somethibg in his fists that kept foes reticent...i would actually suggest ottke had good power but prefeerred to fight that technical rush and attack defence and repeat that did so well for him in the amateurs....he put out mundines lights with one punch...the enabati kayo was brutal too.....he think his style was all wrong for calzaghe and it would have been a clear points ein for sven

How do we define a robbery? Surely there are many robberies that you see that I do not see.

Indulge me a moment. I once asked a girlfriend who was Hindu how many gods there were. She said 330 million. And then I asked my father who is roman catholic how many gods there are and he said three. My brother a Baptist said there was one. When asked, my neighbor a professor said there was none. Later that night I went to a strip club to clear my head and enjoy some wings but I was distressed- how could I live in a world where people who I respected could believe a range of gods that spread from essentially the infinite to the nonexistent. I was getting a lap dance behind the curtain from a stripper I know well named after a book of the bible (although her stage name is Cinnamon) and I asked her if she could ease my worries. "Babe," she said either out of affection or because she didn't remember my name, " you ain't ever gonna get four people to agree on something like that except to agree that the other three are dead wrong. Now do you want to see pics if my kids Halloween costumes or what?"

I hope I've made myself clear.

Ottke fought all over the world as an amateur and competed in the Seoul, Barcelona and Atlanta Olympic Games in 1988, 1992 and 1996.

As a pro, Ottke stayed home. Then again, so did other guys who fought all over the world as amateurs (and chose to stay home as pros) like Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather and Andre Ward.

Ottke was a quality champ. He didn't rob anyone.

Well, I meant as a pro.

The guys you mentioned are from the US so of course they could stay at home and get huge publicity.

The Reid fight was a disgrace. They should have hung that ref after the fight.
