Ward may not be a big puncher but he is sharp and accurate and can still get your attention. Nobody likes being punched in the face.

I expect a sharper Ward in this fight from the opening bell.

 

He's not a good inside fighter but he also never takes damage or wear from an opponent getting inside, with Ward for a few late rounds being the exception.

Kov is not going to develop a inside game never had too really , and always relies on his power, hence he gets tired. Sometimes it looks like he throws everything hard, since that has worked for him why change.

I never pick sluggers to beat good boxers they never do. Im picking Ward again for that reason alone. Dont bet against a man on a 140 plus win streak.

His inside game might be in the weak side, but his long range is great. Those long jabs are stiff and accurate and the right hand carries Ko power.
As good as ward is in close, all he managed was scratch and claw his way through with minor points. In other words kov did have knowledge how to nullify those close encounters.
In all those rounds that Ward won the margin is so close, and except for tiring and frustrating Kov, he never really managed to hurt him.
Kov can knock Ward out if he catches him. If Kov can't get the KO, he needs to land enough clean punches in each round to bank enough points for him or else ward will scrap his way through again.

Kovalev looked so odd and uncomfortable trying to anticipate and then initiate clinches. It's not part of his game and if you can't clinch properly just refrain from doing it unless necessary. Part of Kovalev's depreciation during the fight was his obvious concern of these rough house tactics and it clearly affected his offensive rhythm. If you can't multitask stick to what you do best.

I fully expect this fight to be much more entertaining than the first wit a some what desperate and angry Kovalev versus a more informed and evolved Ward. Kovalev is obviously the puncher in this fight and he has excellent boxing skills to boot, Ward can't afford to make to many mistakes but the man is a true technician that relies on perfecting and adding to his craft he will treat this fight no different than first it will be round 13 no doubt about it.
