We are talking Baer at his best. At his best any one right hand landed square on Wlad would end the fight. I could see the fight going either way. Certainly Wlad could not take great punishment or a great punch without going down in sections.

Wlad should beat him, but Baer is exactly the kind of guy that is all wrong for him.

went straight round Primos jab, would do the same with Wlads which is pretty much the same speed and extension. Actually primos is probably better, more accurate, and faster, and longer.

Baer can survive wlads bombs but no way wlad can weather Baers.

Depends on how fast Wlad pulls the trigger. If he doesn't get on Baer from the start like Louis did then I don't see it going to well for him.

You have to take into account the past era guys ,particularly from the pre 60's had less rotational spin on planet earth so the force of the punches were more damaging ,they also were faster and had better reflexes bc of this. Face it,you knew it was only a matter of time before the killer Braddock was matched up here and exposed the weak giant Klitchko in this setting....:headbash

Even wiithout the less rotation pull on earth, pure killers i tellya...pure killers...klitchko the 6'6 240 plus olympian elite athlete wouldnt have stood a chance. I cant beleive anyone here is actually giving Wlad a chance...what are they thinking here the big galoot also averaged skilled and has arthritis and a 50 % k.o record if he didnt fight bums..lol?...

The NORMAL/ REGULAR nut jobs on here forgot to take their meds making this an arguable win for sucha modern fighter with overmatched skills....lol...:ggg

o_O Do people actually watch the footage anymore?

Johnny Risko, Ernie Schaaf and Les Kennedy woulda cleaned out this era, let me guess ... :ohno

That's how this would have gone down, and yes, I rate Chagaev as better than Baer.

True, and in this case, a single Baer missile landing on Wlads chin ends the evening for him, as you said. I don't know if he could field as many follow up shots from Baer. Carnera had a bum ankle and went down from shots that were greatly inferior to the right that accounted for that first kd...I don't think Max landed another clean right until the end on Primo, and then it wasn't really Baer's best....likely he would have finished WK off IF he was so fortunate to land, otherwise it would be a one sided beating for Max, but I think he would make it to the distance.

For the record I don't think its a good measuring stick to use someone's worst fight as a reference for how they would do in fantasy match ups.

    1) Klitschko is in no way comparable to Carnera besides in size. Even the commentators back there describe Carnera as "lumbering". Klitschko = much faster, light on his feet, great control of distance and is balanced and composed in every way. Carnera gets out of joint throwing a jab.
    2) Sanders is in no way comparable to Baer. He, like Klitschko, has a correct stance and keeps composed. He is substantially heavier and taller than Max. He actually has a useful jab. His hands are much faster, straighter and more accurate than Baer, who loops his punches and flails away. Sanders would likely have gone down in history as a machine of destruction had he been transplanted into that era.
    3) Baer landed his first KD on Carnera because Carnera was flat footed and kept his hands down low. Again, Wlad is a different story. Different stance, light on his feet, looking to use distance to defend with. He is constantly pressuring with the jab and looking to counter stroppy fighters with the right. He has a plan, and his dominance testifies to that plan's effectiveness.
    4) Carnera suffered an injured ankle in the first round which made his subsequent performance about as relevant as Martinez' performance against Cotto.
    5) I don't see how these videos significantly change the characteristics of the fighters in question nor how they match up.

I wasn't comparing them other than doing what you did but in reverse. I brought up one of Max Baer's better performances and Klitschko's worst whereas you brought up one of Klitschko's better one's and Baer's worst.
