With the May Mac fight being announced this week I sense that the headlines will overshadow this fight. I'm guessing the rematch does worse at 150k vs 165k for the first match
I think it'll do more than the first one. HBO has done a better job marketing the fight and the controversy/bad blood stemming from fight 1 adds additional interest.
Less than 150k, possibly even less than 100k. The promotion has been awful, hype is non-existent, and it has been overshadowed by Canelo-GGG and Mayweather-McGregor. There is a general expectation in the boxing industry that this will flop badly, both sides are already blaming each other, and Kovalev is unhappy since his purse depends on the number of ppv buys.
Yes. It will take away promotion as casuals that would have possibly bought it will be distracted by May Mac theatrics
I think it will do well. I will not watch the Void fight. I will also buy the Golovkin fight......................Will also buy the Kovalev fight, but I really shouldn't because the judges have already filled out their cards and the damned referee will be there to protect SOB, make sure SOB's headbutts, low blows, elbows, holding, running will all be not noticed.................but watch the first fight in slow motion.....................Kovalev won that fight, even Mayweather had Kovalev winning..........
With the circus show announced for August, this is going to tank miserably. The casuals that don't get that you can't take a top class guy from one sport and than put him in with the top from another on their sport, and get anything even remotely competitive out of it, will buy the circus act instead of an actual top class fight.
First fight hometown decision left a sour taste for a lot of viewers. They are fighting in the same city.
