If Kovalev wins the rematch will he be credited with 2 wins over Ward?

I wanted Kovalev to win, I didn't agree with the decision but the fact is Ward won. Regardless how you feel about the decision you have to give Ward credit and accept it.

If Kovalev wins then surely this ends after a third fight.

 

If he wins comfortably (wide UD or KO), I don't really care what three ringside observers thought on that night, Krusher is the better fighter.

Much like I feel about PAC/Bradley. I know that fight wasn't nearly as close as Kov/Ward I, but it's clear PAC is the better fighter of the two.

Yes, Kovalev won the first fight, he outclassed SOB, really hurt SOB with his jab...................he is the better boxer, SOB is a cheat................it was SOB who said that neutral judges would be unfair to him, yes, because he always has his personal judges and referee.....................

 

It doesn't matter. I just want to see Ward gets his ass kicked this coming Saturday.

Fighters with much worse robberies under their belts often get the "controversial" mark for it, but will still be seen as the winner.
Problem with this one is, that if you really want to score it for Ward, despite him taking the most punches, got dropped and took the most damage, you can legitimately within boxing's scoring method. Kovalev won the fight, Ward won the game so to speak.

Sometimes it's so absurd that it's clear the judges weren't on the level in one of the huge international fights, that nobody takes the official result seriously (besides a couple of internet trolls and rabid fans), but that doesn't happen too often.

If Kovalev wins clearly this saturday (knockout or clear on points), some will see him as the superior fighter which he already looked in the first, but the other side of the scale will surely be represented as well.

 

yes. history will show, in full high def, how kov outboxed and outpointed ward in the first fight. all, future generations will have to do, is watch for themselves, and all will be clear to the honest.

 

people are acting like kovalev won every round 10-8 and didn't get the decision, yes he could have been given the win, but the fact of the matter is that it was an extremely close fight that could have gone either way.

 

It's mostly about how the judges scored it.
Two of them didn't give Kovalev a single round after he got to the point of no return line. Not even round 10 or 12, which when watching the fight is quite strange. The other did give Kova the last, but only after scoring it for Ward already so it didn't matter anymore.
All with Kovalev being the champion, landing more and harder punches troughout, dropping Ward who was bending the rules (he himself said he needed to, to get it out of the fire) and kovalev obviously winning the "schoolyard decision".

The fight was close, but everything looks like Kovalev got screwed over in his opponent's backyard.
If Kovalev had won, there wouldn't have been any controversy, despite a couple of complaining Ward fans... that's what you have to keep in mind, and think about why that is. A close fight that the vast majority saw Kovalev win, even quite a couple that had predicted "Ward by schooling the overhyped and limited Russian".

 

fair point, hopefully there is a decisive and clear winner on Saturday as well as it being a great fight.
