It's not about protecting people who might be hurt and crying in a corner. Most don't have a problem sticking up for themselves, they just don't want to bother because it doesn't accomplish anything. The consequence of allowing personal attacks is that the garbage takes up so much space and gets in the way, and becomes part of what the forum's about. This directs away from interesting and fruitful boxing discussion and debate, and even better quality occasional off-topic lols. Like IsaL said, a lot of members don't stick around.

 

i agree about the garbage taking up too much space, but if you ban everyone who attacks another poster, youll be left with a handful of guys just patting each other on the back. esb's glory days was nothing but flame wars between multiple posters, the only difference between then and now, is that there were a whole lot more intelligent people on here, so the wars were filled with entertaining stuff... the gifs and photoshop elements really helped a lot. today, its a lot more dumbass kids just filling every thread with the same sh1t over and over. whats left to do but abuse them.
