Last Ward fight I'll be watching. He was actually getting back into the fight with his counters and than decided to make it dirty with his ducking, and headbutting and constant low-blows out of the field of vision of the ref. I'm on Serge's bandwagon after this mugging.

 

We knew that Kovalev had mediocre stamina. But I don't think anybody knew it was that bad. He's a 6 round fighter. I mean the guy is a great fighter, but he's got a HUGE Achilles heel. His legs were gone after 6-7 rounds and Ward is a light puncher.

He just flat out gassed tonight. Granted nobody else besides Ward could defend well enough to wait for him to gas out, but still.

Did not know Kova's stamina was that bad.

 

Don't be mad that Ward crushed his enemy, saw his enemy driven before him, and heard the lamentations of his enemy's woman.

 

I agree, that was embarrassing, are people forgetting the Rigondeux joke? The whole event was actually damaging to boxing in my opinion.

And Kellerman talking like Ward laid him out cold and ramming his head up Ward backside topped it off for me, I actually felt queasy.

 

It's a nut shot, does not 1 nut shot not deserve time to recoup, he just waived it off like it was a legal blow.

 

The replays show that the low blow 2-3 rounds before was in fact a low blow....confirmed by Malignaggi who is a Ward fan.

The replays also show there was a low blow before the head shot which kicked it all off.

I'm not sure why a casual UK fan would care for either Kovalev or Ward to be honest. I just wanted a good fight...which it was before it was ruined by a terrible decision.

What a legal punch!

 

It was a much higher pace tonight than last time, intentional from Ward I think. A lot more entertaining as well I thought.

A shame about the low-blows controversy, but it looks as though Ward would have won via stoppage regardless. If Kovalev had somehow survived that round those last 4 rounds would have been target practice.

Kovalev is a drinker right, reminds me a lot of how Kelly Pavlik went out.

 

Clearly you missed the low blow in the round or two previous, and the low blow before the headshot.

But....by the letter of the law, is a stoppage caused by a low blow a DQ or a no contest?
