Seems to have been buried under a load of unnecessary controversy. The stoppage had nothing to do with a couple of beltline punches nowhere near Kovalevs balls, and everything to do with this beautiful right hand: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
So, I guess that the first fight should have been stopped after Ward was knocked down in Round 2? This argument makes no sense.
That's an extremely basic comparison. Ward got up from that right hand a little buzzed and survived Kovalevs attempt to finish him easily. Kovalev was badly hurt, badly gassed and Ward was hitting him at will. His body language after taking that shot was horrible, turning his back, slumping over, all the signs were there he wanted out of that fight.
People are such scum, they will make anything up to support their agendas. Corruption and partisan politics are killing this sport and you people just go right along with it because your boy was the beneficiary.
Sure, Ward landed some good punches but Kovalev was ahead on points in my opinion and he was also hurting Ward. Every time Ward landed a good shot Kovalev would come back and land something good. The low blows? Wow, ridiculous! Weeks didn't even want to acknowledge them. The only one he did acknowledge... He gave Kovalev just a few seconds of a break. You have up to 5 minutes to recover! Some of the clean shots were set up by fouls. This is very controversial, don't minimalize it.
