No what you weren't banking on was kovalev being exposed as a bully who has quit in him. You just knew kovalev was going to put ward on a stretcher too bad for you ward had other plans. You don't get the better of an elite boxer like ward in a rematch he's too good and people like me knew that going in.

 

Maybe cos he talked about busting his ribs , street fighting him , ending his career etc .. and then fought like he was intimidated when it got down to the nitty gritty.

 

You'll need new excuses in the third fight though.

I's suggest borrowing from the Klitschko compendium of excuses thread that Shaunster started to cater for the East euros eg. Kovalev was tripped by the ref.

It's funny he wore a "War" hat during the press conference leading up to the fight, something the great Marvelous Hagler used to wear.

I can promise you that Hagler would've went life and death in a fight like that and not let a few low blows and belt line shots stop him. He was a man possessed in his heyday.

Let Kovalev regroup and have a soft touch when he returns. Bad stoppage, but he'll thank Weeks down the road as the ending could've been exponentially worse had Tony let the fight continue. He wasn't defending himself and he wasn't throwing anything back.

 

Talks tough beats up old men in Hopkins but turns his back to ward cries about borderline low blows and basically quit when he realized he couldn't deter or ko ward and was in too deep with a master.

 

Kovalev was holding him in headlocks. Of course you'd interpret that as Ward billy goating him. There was no head charging by Ward in this fight.
He improved drastically since last time. Kovalev made no improvement or adjustments and still held and head locked without hitting.

 

He wasn't hit in the balls he was hit at the border. Even still ward had him on his last legs from that counter right hand he was in bad shape but don't act like that didn't have a huge impact on why he was stumbling around the ring like a drunk at 3am.

 

Rumours are that Kovalev stumbles around like that after a night on the vodka.

See this is what I mean! I read that Ward was enrolled in VADA testing since March for this fight! Is that true! If so, how can he not be tested? As a participant he has no say when he gets tested. Is there any way someone can actually varify that testing was done or not.
No disrespect, but you don't have a fondness for Ward. So I take what you say about him with a grain of salt!

 

Do you mean being up on 1 card and being hit low 3 times for a early stoppage?
