So, round by round here is who won in power punches landed

    1 ------ Kov
    2 ------

    3 ------ Kov

    5 ------ Kov
    6 ------ Kov
    7 ------ Kov
    8 ------

5-3 rounds Kov landed more power punches (matches my scorecard)

Ward racked up 18 power shots in the 8th round, as you would expect. Before that he trailed in power punches landed 40-35.

    Lmao!!! "Blasted his head off"

Holy **** you people love reaching! Did Kovalev go down from that shot?? And how many low blows were there before that RIGHT HAND FOR THE AGES that didn't even come close to finishing Sergey??

You don't think getting hit in the nuts beforehand kinda took its toll and set up that shot??

That's what happens when you get blasted out.
I wouldn't be surprised if he retires. Guys are gonna be confident on him now.

He got mopped around the ring like so may cleaning implements yes. He was savagely beaten about the body. He wanted out of there. It was much worse than a KO. He made him mentally quit and want out of there. He broke him. The last shot was a little low but the others were not or only slightly. kov feigned that he was hit low earlier. Big faker. I've never been so disappointed.

I may try to compile a list of people who had Kovalev ahead when the fight was stopped. So far I know:

    One judge
    Lederman
    Stiverne
    Paulie
    LA Times person #1
    LA Times person #2

At some point, the evidence becomes a bit overwhelming, I think.

If a bunch of people think a fighter is ahead, and the punch stats seem to show the same thing, then there may be issues with the official judging.

As I mentioned above, my guess is that Team Kovalev is going to think long and hard about future fights in the USA against a Roc Nation fighter.

Compubox pretty much reflects how I saw the fight going. Kovalev had a small but clear edge over Ward throughout. That said NBO has a point in that Kovalev's activity, which far exceeds Wards, may be a contributing factor to his poorer stamina late in the fight. Ward, to give him credit, has GOOD timing and picks his potshots beautifully.

Yeah EE fighters need to take a long look at what happened in this fight. And also the shady crap that went on before it ;) Ward NEVER fights across the pond. Wonder why!

You know, you make some good points, and usually I'd be right there with you, but the way you insult me, my mother, my family, my friends, and everyone else I know makes me want to tell you to go **** yourself. How about you leave the nationalistic **** out of your analysis and we can all hate on Ward together?

Good points and I agree on all of them.

What I feel bad for, in Kovalev's case, is that because of how the judging went in the first fight, he probably felt he had to do even more in the second fight. Which could lead to him getting gassed faster, or making mistakes.
