In reality I should be shocked that people are defending Ward, but I'm not, that's the sad state of this forum.

The shots the fight were stopped on were low, the fact kovalev was hurt is irrelevant, the last 3 shots of the fight were low blows. Next we'll have people claiming it's acceptable for Ward to KO someone with a rabbit punch.

The last punch was a low blow. There is no debate about that. Look at his trunks and where the 'B' was on Hublot it is way low. And you realize these guys wear cups so your 'balls' aren't hanging down.

Whats wrong with defending him? He didn't do anything wrong minus the last punch of the fight. Weeks was the one who ended the fight . He screwed up , not Ward.

Can't agree there. I like the truth.

Striking the pelvis I considered a low blow.

Bull****! The ref makes that call before the fight starts. If a fighter has his trunks pulled up over the belly button (navel) the ref will say this... if not that shot is considered low. WTF are some of you people talking about? I am a ref

No its not complicated at all ( a bit like you velvet) ,so you would think an experienced boxer & ref would know this ...but Ward seems to do this in the majority of his fights.

I always wondered how so many people used to think the earth was flat. Now hearing people try and argue Ward's shots weren't low blows, it all seems to make sense...

Almost all of them were legal. One was low (the last punch of the fight) and there were maybe 1 or 2 borderline punches on the lower part of the white part of Kovalev's trunks from Ward. Aside from those, the rest were squarely in the middle of the guard precisely where Weeks pointed to on Kov's trunks at the beginning which are legal. Most of Ward's punches to the belt-line (the white part of Kovalev's trunks) did not seem to be very hard. Most of the ones that Kovalev reacted to looked like there was no power on them from Ward whatsoever. And as has been pointed out, at least one of them and probably more were retaliatory punches that came directly after worse fouls from Kovalev. An embarrassing pathetic performance by Kovalev. From walking out of that press conference, to saying he's gonna kick Ward's ass to wearing a WAR hat on fight week then showing up on fight night and doing his best impression of Hopkins antics against Chad Dawson and against RJJ in the rematch.

Tony Weeks had a lot to deal with in this fight. Weeks did a good enough job in my estimation, at one point he paused the fight and sternly warned both fighters to keep it clean. Weeks was well within his right to take points away from Kovalev for his belt-line shots and his rabbit punches, which were way worse and more egregious than Ward’s. Kovalev’s rabbit punches in particular also seemed to be more intentional than Ward’s borderline fouls.

All you have to do is look at that sequence with 54 seconds left in the 7th round to see what was going on here. Weeks definitely made it clear at various times for both fighters to “keep em up” but seemed to let Kovalev get away with the rabbit punches. Kovalev was fighting Dirty. Andre wasn’t. And Andre still knocked him the **** out. Kovalev’s career is in tatters after talking all this crap about how he was gonna kick Ward’s ass. Instead of being a warrior, instead all he did was show up to put on an academy award winning performance of being hurt by light punches to the belt-line and pulling a Bernard Hopkins in acting hurt and trying to get the ref to give him 5 minutes to recover all the while rabbit punching and fouling Ward in the clinch all night.

The belly button has never been the low blow line. It's right above the hips where a man wears his belts. Why do you think it's called the belt line. Regardless of how wide the band on a fighters trunks are, the bottom of them should not be below the hips.

Belly button has and always be the waist line, low blow line. Below that is the pelvic, groin, bladder, pubic area.

The waist line is just above the hips.

Why does this picture point to Ward's wrist and say not "his dick"

Then there is an arrow pointing to where Ward's glove actually made impact and says "his dick" I disagree, that would be his balls.

I think this picture and arrows are a fail.
