Kovalev was very angry that's the problem he was so built up that he gassed early from the rage and body work Ward applied.

Yes Kovalev could have protested and doesn't mean it would have changed the refs mind. But at least show some fire and act like you wanted to fight on FFS. Look at what Zab did when the fight was stopped against Zoo years ago Zab was in bad shape as well. The difference is he flew into a rage and was very mad that the fight was stopped you could tell that he wanted to fight on. I'm not saying you have to go to that extreme but you do have to show some emotion to the ref. He accepted the stoppage far too easy for my liking, yet just another example that he really didn't want to be there and was both mentally and physically checked out of the fight. His actions after the stoppage did him no favors in that regard.

 

Look Kovalev didn't want to be there it's clear as day. When you complain to the ref about borderline low blows and turning your back to your opponent you're looking for a way out period. RJJ even said this same thing and it's common sense. Kovalev was supposed to be this big badass with one shot KO power who beat up 10 men at the same time yet when faced with adversity getting put on ***** st and crying like a ***** anytime he got hit to the body and didn't fight back. He melted down in grand fashion to his daddy Andre Ward. Loma was hit with real low blows by Salido and fought on. PBF was fouled all night long by Maidana but still fought on. That's what real champs do.

 

He had experience from the first fight but couldn't come up with a plan. As for the low blows stoppage, he was laying defenseless on the rope so the ref had a reason to make that call. If he really wants it, he could either hold on or take a knee, hoping for a KO which he absolutely can.

 

No one is disputing that he couldn't defend himself. What is being disputed is the legality of why.

 

Well, at least he didn't drop kick or body slam him. So there was some mercy there.

 

What happened to the eight count?

 

The sttopage looked bogus.. But whatever time to move on.. Kova is going to look bad if he continues to dispute this decision. Just forget it and Ward ie very protected plus NSAC already said they arent doing anything about it.. Wont even look at the replay..

So Ward hits him with multiple low blows within the last few rounds, while getting soundly outboxed to the point of Kovalev landing at a higher % and number of both jabs and power punches in 6 of 8 rounds, landing the cleaner and harder shots yet again, and Ward lands a good shot. Somehow though, Ward was up on 2 of 3 judge's cards yet again...

Sergey gets hit with a good right, possibly the first Ward's landed in over 20 rounds between them, and then backs up, throws several punches, uses movement, Ward lands several borderline to low shots, and when against the ropes Ward gets into close range, lands several punches directly on Kovalev's testicles with the "ko punch" being literally on the bottom of the writing of his trunks, directly on the d!ck. Out of nowhere Weeks jumps and stops the fight and that's a good stoppage?

No knockdown, no knee, no calling a knockdown as Weeks could've easily done if he thought the ropes were holding Kovalev up, and then ends the match on obviously illegal punches and this is seen as legit by anyone at all? Kovalev immediately looks at Weeks and confusions sets in. Give me a break. Why do I even bother conversating on such obvious absurdity? The Sky Sports team was wondering what was going on...
