Ward is the most mentally tough fighter since PBF he's in Kovalev's head

I want to see Ward-Gvozdyk by the way. I think that's the fight to make. I would probably take Gvozdyk to stop Kovalev at this point.

 

Was it questionable focus? Or was it that the guy was simply gassed? Remember Ali Foreman? Was it that Foreman wasn't focused or did he just get tired?

I've been on this board for a while now speaking of the importance of stamina. Kovalev's been blowing people way his whole career. He's never had to work hard to win rounds. He's never had his poor stamina taken advantage of. He just gassed.

 

Don't you think this is a bit of psycho analysis? To me Andre Ward won because he has more tools and he executed better. I'm pretty sure if you put Ward in there with Joshua or Wilder he would get violently stopped.

 

"He's in his head" is still BS only uttered by fanboys.... The result of a fight doesn't change that. Grow up.

 

Carl Froch has iron will and mental toughness because he was literally ungassable. He just had unlimited energy. He just never got tired, ever. So when the opponent looks like they're giving up and Froch is "willing" himself to victory that's not what's happening. It's just that most guys were getting tired and Froch was just a machine.

 

He hasn't been officially beaten, but 80 percent of the media scored the first fight for Kovalev. For me, I just don't want to get into the whole skip Bayless type/line of thinking. Ward is the better fighter. Kovalev has a **** ton of power and good timing. And he's destroyed everybody with those tools. But Ward was able to use his skill and exploit Kovalev's poor stamina tonight. He's the better fighter and he executed.

I go back to Carl Froch, Aaron Pryor, Antonio Margarito, Salavador Sanchez, Manny Pacquiao, Joe Calzaghe, etc. All these guys who are known for "mental toughness" look mentally tough and focused because they don't gas out. When everybody else is wobbling around trying to get in more air guys like that just keep on going and going and going. It's not their mental toughness that makes them that way. It's the fact their body gets oxygen to their muscles better than everybody else.

 

Ward was clinching like a bit ch and knew he was losing the fight. It's why he had to resort to low blows. Is that what some of you call tough minded?
