Well according to the Kovalev apologists, apparently belt-line shots are in fact deemed to be low blows. So if you're making the argument that many of Ward's punches were low blows, then certainly that jab from Kovalev would be low as well, wouldn't you agree? Consistency is key. And lets also keep in mind that with that Kovalev jab, it was hard to see exactly where it landed. We're only going by the live broadcast view which was partially obstructed. So just like those first two left hooks in the final series of punches by Ward, similarly to that Kovalev jab to the belt-line, we didn't really have the camera angle to see exactly where those landed. It may have been low or it may have hit the belt-line, it's truly hard to see and we could only be sure by seeing better camera angles which haven't been provided.
Bob Bennett should put on Kovalev's boxing trunks and let someone punch him where the Letter "B" is stitched on the front of them ... which is where Ward's KO punch landed. Then he could tell us if it was above the belt or below the belt ... because its clearly not stitched ON the belt. https://www.ringtv.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Kovalev-jabs-Ward_@HBOboxing.jpg
There was a a low blow Ward was warned about in the early rounds. He hit him in the nuts during the forehead in the face and clinch in the 7th. And he finished him off with 3 low-blows to his shorts.
Nobody was saying the belt shots were low-blows. We're saying the ones he hit the letters on his shorts are. Even you admit they are low. That's a foul. If the ref called it off before the low-blows, fine. The match was still going and the low-blows clearly effecting Kovalev in a way he couldn't defend himself at that time.
I think the letter B magically climbed up Kovalevs torso when he was kneeled over because the B in that looks like where a mens privates are. I'll just ask the masters in biology here.
Pretty much spot on , just differ in opinion that IMO Ward and moreso Weeks sullied what was going to be an excellent victory. A pretty bad performance from Weeks all round not calling fouls from both fighters IMO - needs to take onboard the criticism and learn from it however it seems that is not going to happen if his reported statements are true.
This content is protected Kovalev is bent over, his forearm is across his belt line, and Ward hit's him under the forearm where the Letter "B" is stitched on his trunks. Seriously, how the F*CK is that a LEGAL punch? Not only that, it was the KO PUNCH!!!! His trunks weren't HIGH. The letters were stitched BELOW the belt line. https://www.ringtv.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Kovalev-jabs-Ward_@HBOboxing.jpg You keep harping on punches you can't see ... WE CAN SEE THE KO PUNCH ... AND IT HIT HIM IN THE BALLS. It doesn't matter if the punches BEFORE that shot were legal or not. He could've hit him with 50 jabs to the face before that shot. The shot that stopped the fight WAS A FOUL. You don't get to KO people with a ball shot in boxing. That's a foul. Five mintues should've been called. Ward should've been deducted a point. The fight should've continued. It shouldn't have been a stoppage win for Ward on a foul.
Kovalev was getting beat from pillar to post, he was staggering around like a drunk man. When he bent over and sat on the ropes I think he soiled his pants. There are rumors to that effect and I can understand it cause Ward was tearing his ass up. I thought I heard him say have mercy.lol
Some posters have absolutely been saying that Ward ended the fight by landing 3 consecutive low blows. Two of those were either on the belt-line or on the body, but we didn't have a good enough angle to confirm that. But they certainly weren't as low as the 3rd punch which was just below the belt-line with the punch being on its way up, on its way to the body essentially. This is important because you can clearly see when a guy is aiming downward towards the body vs when a guy is throwing a hook or an uppercut where the glove is moving upward. And as far as the match still going on when the low blow (not low blows as in plural because you just said no one's saying the belt shots were low blows but yet here you are saying exactly that as the first two left hooks appeared to be belt-line or above, anotherwords legal) remember that this all happened in a matter of milliseconds. Yeah when you watch that on super slow motion it makes it look like there was an eternity between the low blow and the stoppage. In real-time, they happend pretty much simultaneously.
You are unsure yourself whether the 2 blows before the final one were low. They looked liked they hit his shorts to me, within the letters all 3 times.
That's BS, that wasn't the contact point because as you can see the glove kept going up and you could see the letters. By the way, I think that's when Kov let that turd go. lol.
You’re talking about a different point in the fight. I was responding to a post that we were discussing the 7th round Kovalev jab, whether that was low or whether that was on the belt-line. (the one before the Kovalev rabbit punch) I stated it couldn’t be seen from the camera angle. Similarly to the first two punches in the final 3 punches by Ward that can’t be seen, because they didn’t have the right camera angle. The video you linked is of the final punch of that 3 punch series that ended the fight for Ward. It only shows as you can see the 3rd punch, not the first 2 punches that we didn’t have that angle for.
He could have hit him with two punches to the face ... the blow that dropped him was a foul. Which Shadow111 seems to want to ignore. The KO punch was a foul. Clearly. And you don't get to score a KO with a shot to the balls.
