It's obvious there was a huge amount of controversy, no matter which side of the fence you are on. But isn't this why they implemented instant replay in other sports? I don't think it could work the same in boxing as it does in other sports because to take that amount of time to review a ref's decision would allow the fighters to regain energy which would unfairly take the advantage away from one or the other and ruin the flow of the fight. But maybe have an earpiece in the ref's ear and have some group be able to instantly rewind to the call and correct the decision if needed? It's 2017 here, there is great video technology out there, it seems like they should be able to get something in place that can prevent things like this from happening.

You can't w/o the Feds getting involved and forcing regulations on Boxing. In other words, kill off all the sanctioning bodies and their corruption and install a national association, a players union, etc etc.

The commission should do their jobs and make it a NC. DQ is a bit unfair on Ward. If the ref is missing low blows, they use video evidence to correct decisions. In this case they refuse to do it, its why the majority of boxing fans(Not necessary Kov fans) are annoyed at the current status of this incident.

The guilty are not going to police themselves. That's the reality.

    Easier said than done.
As if the FEDS has got nothing else better to do than fix a sport.
All sports has controversy if it involves referee, umpire, etc. No governmental body can and will fix that.
WBC. WBA, NSAC ,etc ,etc , they are the real problem maker. It's deeper than any of us can imagine. It's money that's manipulating all these evil doers.
Deal with it and stop whining.

The way to avoid all of this, ahead of time, was for Ward to accept the second fight outside of the USA.

He didn't do that, and Saturday seemed like a good example of why he chose not to do it.

Otherwise, you need something like a National Commission to take control of the individual state commissions. More accountability, less potential for favoritism, etc. But even that might not be enough because you have international interests involved.

The sport has always been compromised. It's not going to be easy to change that, particularly because of the element of human judging (and sometimes because of human reffing).

Food for thought here, but how long was the time of the 2nd Bowe/holyfield delay due to the Fan Man? I remember that right live. They had both guys wrapped up keeping them warm. Still ended up a good fight. So delays can happen even at a high level.

Maybe the earpiece as mentioned earlier.

Run Roc Nation out of the ****ing sport. And open up a full fledged investigation into the sport of Boxing via an independent investigator and a special prosecutor.

What's happening in USA boxing now is not a good thing. I think a lot of people agree with that. Here is how a journalist described the scene after the bout.

Of course, these are not real journalists. They are pro-American fanboys posing as journalists in the "Wild West" internet age.

It's a huge problem here in the USA currently. Big problem.

This is the environment that lets the judges tilt things in Americans' favor and lets Meeks do what he did without reprisal.

    Much to fix.

If the situation was reversed, all you haters would be dancing in the streets. I don't think that it was a low blow but if it had of been ruled a low blow, I would have been fine with that. Nothing is perfect and the call was not premeditated irresponsibility. There will always be controversy in boxing because that is the nature of the sport. People will always **** and moan about a decision when it doesn't go their way. My advice, stick your hand in your ass and wheeze.

We've seen in the Rigondeaux bout that using replay doesn't just automatically solve everything. Sometimes the best decision by the referee is in the heat of the moment, but like we seen in Rigondeaux Flores I don't see why a ref should be prevented from using replay if he is not sure what to rule. That said, I don't think it should become common as far as used by referees, but certainly after the decision is announced the replays should be studied and also taken a look at by the NSAC in this case to consider whether or not to overturn the verdict. In Rigondeaux Flores, there was clear grounds to change it to a no decision. In Ward Kovalev you didn't have that type of a situation so I don't think there's anything to do. The only thing the ref could have done is to allow the bout to continue longer which would have lessened the controversey. The controversey was two fold, many fans would have liked to see the round continue, as many of Kovalev's fans believe he still wasn't completely out of it. And that there was a low blow which was the last punch before he stopped it. Once the referee makes the decision to stop the fight, no amount of looking at replays would really satisfy everybody becuase you can't undo that stoppage, we can't know exactly what would have happened had it continued, but it's difficult to criticize the referee who is just trying to protect a fighter (Krusher) who wasn't protecting himself and wasn't going down either. One thing I will say is that whether refs can use replays or not, the networks should provide camera angles that show where key punches landed. We should be able to see where that Kovalev belt-line jab landed in the 7th round as well as where Ward's first two left hooks in the final 3 punch series landed. As it stands, we do not have those camera angles and as fans we need to see the best possible angles of the key punches in the fight so we know where all the critical punches landed.
