Mayweather " I don't want weeks being ref for my fights again!"

Smoger is 100 times better than Weeks. He was the ref in several bouts that were named fights of the year. Not to mention Smoger always looked unbiased, while Weeks is a corrupt/inept scumbag and has proven it several times when he was biased towards one fighter.

 

Smoger sure didn't seem unbiased during Alexander-Maidana and Hopkins-Murat. And again, I don't think you can find nearly as many instances of guys getting needlessly hurt in Weeks fights the way you can with Smoger.

 

Smoger is fan-friendly for sure but I always cringe when a fighter takes extra damage when he refs. I think Weeks looks out for the fighters more.

 

Mayweather and Maidana were never on the same level not even remotely, while the skill/talent gap between Ward and Kovalev was much smaller. Therefore Weeks' actions had much more impact in the bout of the two latter fighters.

 

Yes, just like other sports. The refs get grades during the regular season and the highest graded guys get to ref the playoffs. Should be exactly the same for boxing refs. Ref non-title fights, get a good grade, then you can step up to title fights, then to high profile title fights.

 

Everybody wants to make a conspiracy theory out of it, but how bout this: Kovalev was bent all the way over and Weeks was out of position to see precisely where it landed in that particular split second. That's it. Nothing fancy. No nefarious cabal plotting to steal from the poor immigrant. Just a sloppy set of circumstances in a sloppily regulated and adjudicated sport.

 

This I can agree with, now can you agree with having the contest turning into a NC using video technology to correct this mistake? Just how earlier in the night a decision was made right after and using video evidence they overturned even that decision. I'll just add, because the ref missed the ending to that fight as well.

The man was done, only the LAST shot was slightly low and that was only because he was in a fetal position, with his hands down protecting his body.

 

No. I don't really want to see the third bout (unless Kov went and Krushed Stevenson and brought the trinket to Andre and then only maybe, depending on how Kovalev looked in victory) and imo, there was no malicious intent and finally, had the blow in question landed 2 inches north it wouldn't have made any difference; Sergei was not going to win that night.

 

This is kind of dumb comment since Mayweather isn't fighting anymore though. The Conor match doesn't count lol.
