Would GGG have knocked Kovalev out too?

Without Ward's numerous low blows, I now think GGG would have beaten Kovalev who fought Ward in the re-match.

lol Golovkin is two weight classes under Kovalev. Golovkin wouldn't have lasted three rounds.

GGG enters the ring at what 175-180 pounds? Ward was a super middle, before moving up.

GGG hits much harder to the body and head. Kovalev who never had much of an issue taking punches from 175 pounders, for whatever reason did with Ward.

Kovalev had problems with Ward's body work in their first fight and Kovalev would probably outweigh Golovkin by at least 15 pounds in the ring. Besides Golovkin gets hit too easily for my liking. Kovalev would take him out within three rounds.

Kovalev did not risk attacking Ward, as he didn't want to get hit legally or illegally. He might out jab GGG, but GGG is a good counter guy too, and rather aggressive.

An aggressive Golovkin gets stopped by Kovalev in two rounds. What makes you think that Golovkin can deal with the power of Kovalev?

I think Kovalev would've battered him.

They sparred. And GGG held his own and even got the better of the sessions (per Abel). It would translate in a real fight.

3 years ago, maybe. Kovalev looks to have slowed down a tad.

I think Golovkin would have a chance, especially against the post-Ward version.

But you have to favour a Kovalev on one of his best nights against anyone two divisions below him. I don't think Golovkin is getting KO'ed early; when he's in with a real threat he's quite sound defensively plus he has a great chin.

Ward did an excellent job in fight 2 of negating Kovalev's right hand, I think he'd have an easier time landing on Golovkin.
