What do you guys think? Its really starting to look like it based on from what I'm hearing. He's starting to be more of those hot headed stubborn fighters who only listen to themselves and rely solely on their natural talents rather than actual boxing smarts, and that's a shame.
I'll have to wait and see how he looks when he fights again.

He has the skills, at many points in those last 2 fights he outboxed Ward and Ward is a top quality Boxer. Ive said it many times about his bad stamina and that comes from bad training and a bad attitude towards it. Weve heard so many rumours about Kovalev being hard to deal with in training. Had he been a discaplined trainer, learner and figher he would be close to unbeatable.

Not to forget what he has acheived as a Boxer but ppl lke him and Naseem Hamed with some serous discapline would of been even more than they were.

He's an ATG LHW (obviously not ATG overall). He was the unified champ for a while.

What wins make him an atg lhw?

I mean in terms of H2H ability but I guess the consistency, the manner of wins and the even first fight with Ward make him legit. He's carved out a good resume for himself and I think if he beat 2 more good names, he'll make HOF despite a (legit) loss to Ward.

Even in terms of head to head ability. Not trying to be difficult but Kovalev has lost twice to the only really good fighter he has faced and Ward moved up in weight to fight him. I think people get ahead of themselves with this "atg" stuff. Kovalev has shown himself to be a good fighter and nothing more based on his current resume'. I think a prime Chad Dawson would beat him at 175 and Dawson is not an atg by any stretch of the imagination.

Then Ward deserves no credit, nobody deserves credit....Ward is just another nobody that beat nobody.

He has lost twice officially, but personally I call the first fight 'even' in my mind when judging resumes etc. i.e DLH-Whitaker - I don't like to say Whitaker lost that fight, it was even to me. I don't like to say Marquez lost the first three which to me...were 'even' ultimately.
He needs a little more to cement his legacy and now to counteract the effect of his devastating loss to Ward.
Prime Dawson would not have the slightest chance against Kovalev in my eyes.

We disagree then. The Dawson that beat Adamek would beat Kovalev imo but that's just my opinion. Kovalev still has time to do more in his career. Let's see how it turns out.

You are the one that just screwed Ward out of any credit. Who has he beat to be an atg?

Kovalev seems like he's starting to spiral. He knows in himself that he was well and truly beat that night regardless of this low blow BS talk and Abel Sanchez even found him impossible to train due to his stubbornness. It would suck if he got worse because there's a couple of years left in the tank before he turns into a 3 round fighter.

At 34, I feel he'll just rely on his abilities the way Naseem Hamed did, get a couple more wins and then bow out.

If Kov comes back and sparks out Adonis that would be phenomenal for his legacy

Where did I say that Ward shouldn't get credit for beating Kovalev? I just said that I thought Kovalev was a good light heavyweight champ and not a great one. If you think Kovalev was a great light heavyweight champ then please explain why. You always have something to say so this should be interesting.
