IF, somehow Ward wins, will GGG avenge Krusher's loss?

I can see GGG going to 168 but he is too small for LHW. Ward said he would not fight him at a catchweight. So I don't see this fight ever happening now.

 

Ward fought Kovalev 2x and Kovalev, being the bigger man, could not KO Ward. There is no way that Golovkin is ever going to fight Ward or KO him. I'm literally betting that Golovkin loses to Canelo and retires with that check.
I just hope that GGG fans bet for him in masses and droves and that the odds are overwhelmingly in his favor. I want Canelo to be such and underdog that $1 dollar will win me $20. With $1000 ticket I will be set for a minute too.

 

GGG has some big nuts, so I dont think he will fight ward, they would be too big of a target for ward

 

Actually Kovalev is smaller than Ward. Not a lot and not so much that it is very clearly noticeable, but he is. It's just that Kovalev is the harder puncher and Ward used to fight at 168 so the perception is that Ward is the smaller man. When they showed the fight night weights for each man Ward was bigger. They didn't show it for the Kovalev-Ward fights (if I recall correctly) but they HAVE shown Ward's in the past since he came up to 175 and he was in the low 190s or high 180s and Ward has gotten bigger since then. Kovalev was only in that range vs Chilemba (for the fights that have had recorded weights) and that wasn't his norm at all. He intentionally came in lighter for the rematch vs Ward so he would have better stamina and use his movement better and Ward came in bigger so he would be able to withstand Kov's punches better and likely have more power himself.

I agree that Golovkin is not going to ko Ward and is simply too small for 175. Ward is a bonafide LHW at this point and I don't think Golovkin can overcome a size disadvantage like that against a high caliber boxer and Ward's style doesn't lead to him being likely to knockout to begin with. Some people point to the Jacobs fight as an indication of how Golovkin will perform at LHW but I don't like that logic since neither one of them are LHW.

 

Lol! Ward isn't going to stick around 175. Not with GGG possibly going up to 168 and Beterbiev, Gvozdyk and Bivol on the horizon. He'll probably make a Bunch of noise about a big HW fight for the next year or so and on his way up he'll get overwhelmed and out worked by a good cruiser (Hopefully Usyk) and decide that **** isn't a good idea. Then he'll have MAYBE a big fight with one of the new 175 champs and get KTFO and fade off into who gives a **** where.

 

Ward is smart. If he calls someone out to fight them it will be because he has them figured out. If he takes on a CW or HW it will be Bellew or someone like that. A boxer that isn't that great, but will generate money for him.

 

You know, I wasn't a fan of Kovalev not utilizing an uppercut vs Ward in either fight. Ward likes to duck down a bit before he throws his jab as a mixup so you don't know if it is coming to the head or to the body, but in doing so it makes him open to an uppercut if you can time it and gauge the distance correctly. There were also a few key moments where Kov really should have thrown that and he just didn't. I still think he was winning and outboxing Ward and no boxer is perfect, but his punch selection did bother me.

 

Ohh I'd love to see that fight. GGG after properly putting on good weight to fight at 168 or even 175 will be the same killer. And call me crazy... I think he hits harder than Kovalev and has better punch resistance. And I'm a huge Sergey fan. He'll put on a show in September. It will be a statement.

 

Actually Kov has came out and said that Golovkin hits harder. I don't know if Golovkin hits HARDER, but he is BETTER overall which would put him in better to position to deliver that power and he his ring IQ is better as well so he'd know the optimal way to execute. I look at Golovkin's power like this: GGG and Lemieux may have roughly the same power in their left hook. If you were to calculate their generated force with their hardest left hook the numbers may not be that far off. However, Golovkin is more accurate and has better technique so he's going to be landing more frequently and more cleanly, making him much more dangerous with that one punch. That's also how I see Kovalev and Golovkin. Kov may hit harder, he may not. I honestly don't know but I edge it to Kov despite what he said himself. As far as who is more dangerous, I lean towards Golovkin.

 

A lot of big assumptions there considering there is no history of Ward ducking or as you say picking his opponent based on having them figured out that I recall? He won the super 6 tourney where he easily beat all the top super middle fighters with all at or near there prime including TKOing the reigning WBC,Ring and lineal Light-Heavyweight champion. I cant think of anybody he missed out fighting during his absence when he had promotion issues which robbed him of couple of years?After which he comes back to beat the top guy at light-heavy and P4P top 10 in back to back fights. The fact he mentions he wants to move up to cruiser and heavyweight and your taking it as sign of wanting to cherry pick is a bit unfair when in fact should be applauded and be more proof of his worth as the top P4P guy at the moment.

 

1. Ward does actually have a history of ducking his opponents.
2. The Super Six was actually created for Ward to win it, as admitted years later. That's why Ward didn't really have to win on the road in the tournament.
3. Chad Dawson was a corpse at 175.
4. He was forced to fight Kovalev.
5.That is just talk of moving to HW/CW. There is no reason to think that he would fight the likes of Joshua, Usyk, or even Gassiev and he SHOULDN'T.
