You've called me a moron for merely saying it's possible you could end up being incorrect. You aren't the kind of guy I like to talk sports with

You're pretty passionate about this. I've watched the bout and had it 11-1 Floyd. Canelo was made to look like a lost little boy in there and it was evident in the fight, he just looked increasingly demoralised and towards the end he looked completely defeated and demoralised.
Mayweather had a good sized welterweight frame thus making LMW was pretty much ok. The size difference was grossly apparent on fight night. I do agree that the 2lb weight drainage did favour Floyd, but you seem to be arguing that Canelo was competitive in that fight. It was a complete boxing clinic by Floyd who looked like a DC superhero character in there and it is cited unanimously as one of his most dominant masterclasses against a high level opponent. There is no way at all anyone could soundly call the Floyd-Canelo bout competitive.
Canelo received a major backlash from the Mexican public for his performance.

Yes, Floyd is highly reactive to feints and intelligent pressure - this is a weakness of his without a doubt. However, Canelo didn't capitalise on it against Floyd.

I think you need to watch the fight again. I am a known Floyd hater but I'm not biased. I give credit where it's due, I watch boxing from modern to old and that was one of the best pure performances I've seen.

Fine, that was a little harsh, I'm sorry. Now explain to me how Canelo can beat Golovkin or Jacobs.

I don't quite remember, it was one of the earliest rounds. How did you score the fight then?

I don't think Mayweather will fight again after he's going to make like what, 9 figures, in the upcoming fight, which will be perhaps the easiest of his career.

I rarely take boxers seriously when they say they will retire (unless they're old and they suck), but I think Floyd will retire for good after this. Insane payday, 50-0, he absolutely loves his undefeated record.

So if I follow your mind , if Conor wins he has to face Canelo or GGG? There is no way there would be anything of this. Mayweather Mcgregor is just a show, not a boxing fight.

So let me get this straight, you're telling me that I need to watch the fight again, but yet you don't even remember which round you scored for Canelo?

How are we supposed to take your score seriously if you don't even remember the actual round that you scored to Canelo?

I will agree that the early rounds were very close and Canelo was fighting well early on. I have a very detailed fight summary and a scorecard that I haven't released yet, if you are interested I can start a thread about it, but frankly I'm not sure if it's a good idea as a good amount of posters don't seem very open minded to discussing this fight. I am very happy to start a thread about it, but I Just need to know that posters like you want to intelligently discuss the bout and what happened.

Just as a sneak preview to my scorecard, based on what you're saying about scoring one of the early rounds to Canelo, just as an example of a round that you apparently gave to Floyd, was the 12th round. Now in the 12th round, neither fighter really landed any clean punches. Floyd was running around the ring wasting time and the crowd was booing his stalling. Floyd barely landed a punch in the 12th round. Canelo didn't land much either but he did land one sharp right hand that was probably the best punch of the round. So right there you're giving Floyd the 12th round in a round that Floyd did practically nothing offensively and was stalling. SO right there giving Floyd the 12th, you're just giving him a round just because he's Floyd. Now, in fairness Canelo really didn't do enough in the 12th to win the round either, I actually have that as a 10-10 round. There's just one example of a round that you just gave to Floyd, a round that Floyd didn't really win. (FYI all 3 judges gave the 12th to Canelo)

I watched it years ago, I don't remember every detail of every single fight I've seen and nor do you lol.
You've looked at it extensively and it interests you, you should definitely post it irrespective of what I think, if that's what you wanted to do. I would give you a heads up that you should be wary of the scorecards of a few of the Floyd haters here. I'm not sure if it is necessary tbh, I think the press scorecards should suffice.
I actually remember thinking there being a slight case for 10-2 btw if being very generous but I was heavily in favour of 11-1, that's why I just say 11-1.

Floyd was running and hugging Pacquiao like no tomorrow, but I had the MayPac15 fight clearly for Mayweather. You have to score it accordingly to the official scoring criteria.

In any case, to the press scores:
'Bobby Hunter of Fight Score Collector put together his usual polling and gathering of media scores. It was 86-0 for Floyd Mayweather, with only one score (from Doug Fischer of The RING) closer than 117-111 (Fischer had it 116-113). Nobody had a draw. Nobody had it close. Average score? 119-109.' - https://www.badlefthook.com/2013/9/...elo-judge-cj-ross-stands-behind-114-114-score

The Fight Score Collector link unfortunately doesn't work anymore, but I will emphasise like in the other post that it is unanimously seen as a masterclass by Floyd and a non-competitive bout.

I don't remember every detail of every single fight I've seen either. That's why when I kept hearing posters continue to exaggerate how one sided Floyd Canelo was, I decided to go back and watch the fight again to ensure that I wasn't misremembering what happened. And when I did, to no surprise I remembered the fight accurately as a highly competitive contest. So, when you don't remember what happened in a fight, it's a good idea to go back and watch it again if you are going to try to debate it with someone who who did exactly that. At this point, I'd say I'm an expert on the bout just based on film study, and putting together a detailed summary of it.

So there's nothing wrong with you not remembering what happened, and who won the rounds. But for you to say that you think I need to watch it again when clearly it’s you that doesn’t remember what happened or what rounds you scored to Canelo is absurd. It sounds like you watched the fight once back in 2013, live, and has never watched it again. Sometimes when you watch the fight live, you have a certain expectation for what needs to happen. It’s always a good to go back and watch it again from a neutral perspective to see who actually was landing the better punches and who actually deserved to win rounds.

Floyd was running and hugging Pacquiao at times, and that didn’t stop me from scoring the bout in favor of Floyd. He stalled at times vs Paquiao, but that’s OK (occasionally to stall) as long as he’s still landing the better punches, which he was. Vs Canelo, the only round that Floyd really was running away from Canelo or stalling was the 12th round. Had Floyd been landing punches in that round, the stalling wouldn’t have mattered, but the fact is he wasn’t landing punches in that round. (in the 12th vs Canelo)

I definitely scored the Canelo Floyd match according to the official scoring criteria. I looked at this fight inside and out, you’re talking to somebody who knows pretty much everything there is to know about Floyd vs Canelo. (I can’t say that about other fights, but this fight as you know I’ve looked at closely several weeks ago)

As far as the press scores, you’re absolutely right that pretty everybody had it as a wide decision for Floyd. And just to be clear, though I had it closer, I also had it as a clear decision win for Floyd. I never made the argument that Canelo did enough to win, only that it was a very competitive fight, and a difficult one for Floyd, as he attested to after the bout in his praise of Canelo’s performance.

If you really go back and look at those rounds, even if you gave most of them to Floyd, at least 6-8 rounds of that fight were certainly closer that many of Floyd’s other fights which he won rounds clearly and decisively.

I mean lets be real, there’s plenty of fights that Floyd has won that he won the rounds easily. That didn’t happen vs Canelo. Take the last 10 rounds of the Floyd vs Mosley fight. Mosley had that big round 2, but clearly Floyd won every single round after the 2nd round. None of those rounds were even close.

Take Floyd vs Marquez. I thought Floyd won pretty much every round vs Marquez. I can’t remember exactly but it was 12-0 or 11-1 something like that.

Vs Canelo it wasn’t like those fights. Floyd did not win 11 rounds clearly vs Canelo. That just didn’t happen. If you argue Floyd won 11 rounds vs Canelo, you can make that argument that he won those rounds by edging out most of those rounds with 1 or 2 punches that you preferred to Canelo’s punches. That was the type of fight that is was.

Many went into the fight, many in the press, thinking that Canelo had to do this or that to win rounds. They had an expectation of what Canelo had to do to beat Floyd, and since Canelo didn’t do that, they scored every round for Floyd. I didn’t do into the bout with any expectations. I just looked at who landed the better punches round after round, who had the better defense, etc.

Most of the people in the press they tend to agree with each other more often than not. A lot of the people in the press knew about Floyd, Floyd was the bigger name. In 2013 most people in the press really didn’t know too much about Canelo. You have to take that into consideration. I’m happy to share my scorecard and my fight summary, but it’s a really busy time now and we have so many great fights coming up, I may wait until later in the year. It really depends on how many posters really are interested in talking about this bout.

There is no such thing as a 40yr old in a "super fight".

Floyd is doing the right thing at this age - using his name to make money against UFC clowns and other elderly fighters (36yr old pacquio for instance)

Maybe 40yr old floyd pursues rematches against Pac , marquez, cotto or martinez after this. There is money to be made on the "old man circuit" after this.

No need to be fighting prime lions like Canelo, Thruman , etc. Nothing is proven by this.
