Should Ali have been disqualified for the illegal use of smelling salts after getting decked by Henry Cooper? How about Duran being awarded the title after hitting Buchanan below the belt? What about Marciano hitting Walcott while he was down? Thoughts? More examples?

Just one wee thing, as was pointed out to me on this forum, Marciano didn't hit Walcott when he was down.

Duran should have been DQ'd I think.

Clay's corner should have been fined maybe. Not a DQ.

Marciano didn't hit Walcott when he was down.

Could never understand why Duran wasn't at least given a warning for smacking Ken in the nuts and perhaps he should have been given time out to recover. And the clay smelling salts, corner should have gotten a fine but definitely not dq. Now the question begs.. Should marciano have been disqualified for hitting Cockell when he was down??

That's crazy talk. How the hell is a corner fine after the fight any benefit to Cooper? He was potentially robbed of the chance of a KO win in the biggest fight of his career up to then and a paltry loose change fine for the corner is the best he can hope for? Clay should have been disqualified or because no one spotted it at the time, the fight should have been changed to a no-contest afterwards.

Yes, Duran should have been disqualified and probably would have if that bout had a more competent referee.

Do you think Ali would have been ko d in the next round by Cooper. With or with out the salts?

It's possible. I think he would almost certainly would have been if the bell hadn't rang to end the round. That's why I said that potentially Cooper was robbed of a KO by Dundee illegally using the smelling salts on Clay.after the knockdown. We will never know for sure which is why the least that Cooper deserved was for the fight to be changed to a no contest.

Eusebio Pedroza pretty much shoved Johnny Aba out of the ring and Aba was injured and unable to continue. I'm not sure what the exact rule is, but I think Pedroza should have been DQed or maybe it should have gone to the cards. Maybe it depends on whether the ref thinks it was intentional or not? But it definitely should not have been a TKO for Pedroza.

I find it rather interesting that any person on this board that claims Duran should have been disqualified against Kenny failed to mention that Duran responded after Kenny threw 2 punches clearly after the bell had rung.

Hatton should have been disqualified against Tszyu, but Dave Parriss would have let Hatton hit Tszyu with the kitchen sink that night if Ricky had chosen to.

I don't think smelling sorts should be a disqualifiable offence.
Take away the chief second's licence, fine him etc.
I don't believe in changing results to no contest either.

Those two punches had no impact on the fight at all. Duran didn't even blink. The low blow, however, made it impossible for Ken to continue.

I thought Wepner should have been dq'd against Ali for all those rabbit punches. Funny thing was, it was probably the best punch.
How about Bazooka Limon pulling down the trunks of Mitchell to thwart the attack was another thing worthy of a dq.
