My own view is that Tyson didn't really want to box anymore after Jacobs passed and especially after Robin Givens and that whole soap opera. He was bitter and he was fighting because it was expected of him. He could make a tone of $ but I don't believe his heart was in boxing anymore. Ofcourse King was in his ear had him mad at the world. With that said a day of sparring doesn't really mean that much.
Or worse, Ali. With all his pre-fight banter and insults; He'd pick on Tyson for months; his tooth, his voice, his looks, his footwork and style, you name it. And Tyson is/was no intellectual match for those mind games.
Certainly didnt help that the three cornermen in this video: Jay Bright, Aaron Snowell, and Richie Giachetti are three of the worst ever to have made it that far in the sport. Tyson would have been better off training himself rather than use those three clowns.
Man, this gotta be like a dream come true for Tyson haters. ' proves Foreman would have killed him, proves that because he got upset in sparring, Ali would have drove him into a mental break down by calling him names, always said he was mentally fragile and had no heart and this is the evidence'. Total bulls**t! Sparring is where you prepare for fights. Get into fighting shape and sharpen your skills so that you are at your best in the real bout. Even prime Tyson had his bad days in sparring. Greg Page was said to have dropped him before the Tubbs fight. Both Carl Williams and Mike Williams were said to have done very well sparring against Tyson, as did Oliver McCall. Even british bodybuilder Frank Bruno, a guy who looked like he fought in slow motion in his fights, claimed that he got the better of Tyson in sparring.
Your video shows a short exchange between the two with Tyson throwing the last punch; a left hook which lands but not clean, the guy grabbing him, then the round ending. Nothing like the way you describe it.
I see a lot of excuses here for Tyson, it's hard to admit he didn't live up to his hype that Cus and Rooney gave him.
