For me it was Holyfield - Bowe 1, I was a small kid at that time and was very excited, I love this sport since that fight. I'd like to hear old-timers here. Maybe even guys who are in their 80s now
I think the first fight l really watched and heard a lot about was the Rumble in the Jungle. I was around 11 then. I still remember the whole world stopping what they were doing to watch/hear this fight. Same thing happened during the Thrilla in Manila. Boxing, or at least an Ali fight, was HUGE back then.
The term is subjective I could say Frazier vs clay III I'm going for john H Stracey vs Hedgmon lewis , Stracey was an early favourite of mine as a kid .
Duran vs Barkley . I never forgot that fight, non stop action from the beginning until the end. An electrifying and thrilling fight even today when I re-watch it. It was The Swan Song of Hands of Stone, his last great performance.
Matthew Saad Muhammad vs Dwight Braxton in December of 1981, I was 10 years old. Not exactly a great fight, but I think it was the first title fight I remember watching.
Beware. I had threads "disappeared" by a moderator for asking a question related to boxing fan's ages to gain some perspective. He apparently felt it was socially unjust to stray from mind numbing speculation on if certain Fighters have glass jaws.
