Kovalev was just overrated. He really didn't make much of a effort to beat Ward this time. Yeah the low blows was bull**** and how the ref missed that I will never know. But Kovalev would have lost on the cards again anyway.

Interesting trend among the pro-low blow squad. You guys got no balls. I can't fathom the lack of testicular fortitude you are displaying. Terrified to answer a simple question on a message board.

I will say this, if you ever wish to get a response out of me again, you will have to man up and give the opinion I asked for. There is no moving on.

A guy gets blatantly robbed on the cards then is dominating again in the rematch until several intentional low blows cause a premeditated stoppage from a corrupt referee and suddenly the fighter is a waste of space who never did anything and should be thrown on the scrap heap.

Boxing fans are toxic and should be put out of their own misery for the good of humanity.

    Yeah, way different.

1-6 no less than 5 to Sergey. Add clear rd 10, and more aggressive and effective rd 12, and Sergey 7-5 plus the KD make it ANYTHING other than a fight that coulda gone either way.

    Second fight.....4-3 Kovalev by MOST....
3-4 Ward as objective as a fan could have it for him.

No less than a dozen sack blasts are MORE than enough to make even someone as hardened BHop to drop em and eat the R hand that began the end.

Add the 15-20 that woulda been warnings from many refs, and you got a fighter taking on both the ref and his opponent, all that knowing the judges wouldnt give him a rd if he didnt both outland, outwork, and out defend Ward......

All the makings for a fighter to be broke.

He needs to go to GBP and work into a mandatory so he can get a nuetral 3rd fight, or regain his titles when Ward drops them to avoid the other mandates.

Undoubtedly he'll say Beterbiev is unproven, as are Gvodzyk, and Bivol.

Yet, he'll find a way to fight Cleverly, or rematch Barerra so long as HBO is gonna pay him 4++

The ones that are trying their absolute best to keyboard bash Kovalev aren't boxing fans. We both know what THEY are.

He just got bested by a superior fighter ..if Calzaghe had been around the same would have happened to him. Just bad timing for Serg.

I think he should happy with his resume so far and he still has some wins to get. I just feel a little regret he has not and probably never will earn the kind of money his talent deserves.

Pretty ridiculous thread title. I see where you're getting at but that would only be a prediction of the future. Because so far he's been pretty incredible considering most didn't know him before truly arriving just 4 and a half years ago against Campillo...

Held three of the four belts and made 4 defenses as unified champ.

Only controversially losing the belts to Andre Ward, who is one of the best of the era. His only 2 losses in 33 fights are against the great Ward.

9-2 (7 KO's) in world title fights, 5-2 (4 KO's) against former or current world titlists

2014 The Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year

    Notable victories:
    2014- UD12 Bernard Hopkins
    2013- TKO4 Nathan Cleverly
    2015- TKO8 Jean Pascal I
    2016- RTD7 Jean Pascal II
    2013- KO3 Gabriel Campillo
    2016- UD12 Isaac Chilemba

His legacy will ultimately ride on his great power along with the Ward rivalry, beating Hopkins, the belt he picked up overseas from Cleverly, with the Pascal beatdowns to boot. That's a very good legacy.

Hes a former unified champ who beat a number of top ranked fighters and has only lose to the arguable #1 in the sport.

    Hardly "wasted talent"
