I agree Smith and Direll makes most sense especially to get somebody from the North American market to help give the tournament more credibility as the cruiser tourney doesn't seem to have anybody from there either

No!!! Jamie Cox isn't even fringe world class. Rocky Fielding who he was scheduled to fight would've been more acceptable.

You had to expect Skoglund would get in, but if the elite of the division were involved he wouldn't be.

Seems like both tournaments are basically glorified European championship. Will be watching both but am more excited for the cruiserweight version

That's not fair at all to the cruisers. The best of the division are in, they just happen to be Russian or European. Dorticos is Cuban, and may be the darkhouse of the tourney.

Super middleweight to be world class needs North American fighters though, like Benevidez, Dirrell, Ramirez, maybe Jacobs, Quillin, or Bute. If they don't get a single North American yes we can call it a b-level Euro tournament.

 

Jamie Cox seems like a wasted spot, a little bit disappointing when you compare it to the cruisers.

 

Yeah I agree probably unfair to bring cruiserweight version into when the best are basically from Europe. I am actually really looking forward to it and agree Dorticus has a shot.

 

Well, both of those divisions have always had a lot of Europeans at the top.
Just go take a look at Ring Magazines ratings CW. A few Russians and Makabu from Congo, rest are all from Europe.
SMW is more lively.

 

Guys like Skoglund and Cox are basically robbing the bank here.
