Golovkin on the brink of breaking Hopkins record Hoppy not eager for GGG to break his record

Both GGG and Hopkins have their fair share of questionable names to make up their MW records.

 

There was only one WBA belt in 2010 before Felix Sturm paid the WBA to call him "super belt holder" to duck Golovkin

 

I have complete faith in Golovkin demolishing and stopping Alverez. However if this goes to cards, even if its a complete one sided beating, i will worry for GGG. I would also advise him to not eat or drink anything that is offered to him.

Sturm ducked Abraham , should we give Arthur Sturms WBA belt as well?

Vyacheslav Senchenko was the WBA regular in 2009 , a year before Golovkin picked up his regular paper belt.

His phoney defences don't count because it was Sturm who was defending the real WBA belt against top 10 ranked opposition. GGG would face a top 10 rated fighter till 2015.

Hopkins never held a second rate paper belt so their reigns are not comparable.

 

To try and equate Golovkin's horrible middleweight resume with Hopkins' above average one, is a joke. Golovkin has one guy, Danny Jacobs. Jacobs would have been one of the ten best middleweights some years in the 90s, but Ouma, Rubio, Geale, Macklin, Murray, Lemieux etc., hell no. lol. Whereas guys like younger Robert Allen, Joppy, Holmes, Trinidad, Eastman, Echols would all be top contenders, and probably have a title in today's game.

Sturm is the longest GGG ducker in this sport this is common knowledge and never had a clear win vs a top 10 MW beside maybe injured Barker.

For most casuals like you Golovkin was a nobody around that time that's right.
But Sturm knew about Golovkin that's why he paid the WBA to make him Superchamp that's common knowledge.

 

Ive said it before. Take Trinidad and De la hoya out of Hopkins middleweight resume and he lost to the two best fighters he fought in jones jnr and Taylor. His best wins aren't even 160 lb fighters. GGG walks through the fighters Hopkins beat and easier imo

 

WBA created the belt to collect more sanctioning fees as you saw in other divisions.

Sturm vs Arthur was the fight people wanted then , not Golovkin who hadn't a big enough profile to get the fight.
Blame K2 for not putting any money behind him.
