He's being a *****, stay at LHW and fight Stevenson, the man who beat Bellew. S*** fight Beterbiev, Smith Jr., Bivol or Gvozdyk, anyone would be better than ****ing Bellew.
I don't mind the fight... It's understandable and anyone with some intelligence could see it coming from a mile away. But it's not a huge risk or an important legacy defining fight for Ward, it's simply a low risk-high reward payday. The jockstrap sniffers in this thread need to chill out. This is a semi-interesting spectacle and nothing more.
and so the ward arse kissing band wagon rolls on. This thread is barely a page long and I've seen the word great/greatness mentioned 3 times attached to this unimaginable feat of beating Tony Bellew! Get a grip fan boys
Gvozdyk has been on US PPV twice, and on US HBO once, that's 3 times in a year, Bellew has been on HBO 4 years ago, exactly once. No one here gives a **** about Bellew.
Bellew has a win over Haye whom people know. Bellew starred in a US box office hit. Gvozdyk opened a couple PPV telecasts with the arena empty.
LHW is full of dangerous fighters..but all of them are unproven. Ward-Bellew is a big money fight. The question is, would Ward comfortably be able to make 175lbs again given this'll be at Cruiserweight? Roy Jones's body couldn't handle going back from 193lbs to 175lbs (although he did that in a short period of time).
I take it you missed his brutal destruction of Yunieski Gonzalez on the undercard of Lomachenko-Sosa that had almost 900,000 viewers?
Bellew is awful but i dont think that Ward is goin to travel for any amount of money and any fight. So cant see this happening unless Bellew goes to the US and gets headbutted into submission.
I didnt. I saw it. Thats your lone card. As I said he opened a couple of PPV telecasts to empty arenas. The Gonzalez fight is your only card. Now tell me that trumps people recognizing Pretty Ricky from Creed and Bellews potential home audience in the UK? Werent you guys just defending Golovkin going over there to fight a welterweight? Wasnt the UK part of your reasoning? Also what win at HW does Gvozdyk hold?
I strongly favoured Bellew to beat Kovalev on a thread a while back. He'd deserve big props if he went up and fought Bellew. Ward would too. Granted he's going for the highest profile fight but so did Calzaghe when he moved up and fought Hop and Roy instead of Tarver and Dawson. Usyk ,Briedis etc probably aren't worth the risk to him and he'd likely be setting himself up for a loss anyway. There's people on here who say Bellew has a better resume than Wilder , thats nonsense obviously , but he did box well against Haye and im sure most wouldve said Haye puts Ward into a pine box. That won't be an easy fight for Ward at all imo. I think its a solid fight
