Bellew is a good fighter and I agree is underrated. But in terms of boxing he is not on Ward's level and will not be able to swarm him with power shots as Ward will smother his work and slowly grind him down. If people were praising Ward for simply moving up then there would be no issue. However there are fools in here claiming this fight is on par with GGG vs Canelo and claiming fighting Bellew, is daring to be great. It is a warm up fight. This is on par with the Berrera fight except this will have more gloss and shine to cover the fact there is excrement at it's core
Bellew is a waste of time for Ward. Let Bellew do his thing against the Whyte, Chisora, or Haye's of the island.

Let's not overreact. Ward vs Bellew is a decent fight, good opponent to test out the waters at a higher weight. Ward is smart, he'll be about a 1/2 favourite for this one. I'd prefer he fought Beterbiev / Gvozdyk / Bivol, however one can't criticize this move at all. Winning improves Ward's legacy, but not by as much as staying to clean out 175lb would have done, or beating someone like Usyk or Gassiev. However, neither is it on the level of GGG vs Canelo. Both GGG and Canelo are p4p-level fighters; Bellew is not.
I agree, I'm not high on this at all, people give Stevenson so much **** but Ward is a boss for going up to face someone Stevenson bobble headed?! I'm a fan of Ward but this doesn't interest me, if he wants a CW, pick on one of the real beasts of the division. Or better yet, Fight Stevenson at LHW or Beterbiev.
