Not daring to be great. A win win can never be confused with "daring to be great" ward literally can not lose.

Daring to be beat would be trying to beat the other top lhw. Fights ward could absolutely lose. This would be far beneath even Jones taking on ruiz. Yes, very far below fighting Ruiz. ****ing Ruiz!!!

Usyk, Briedis and Gassiev are barely known. Bellew is known, and with that comes $$$$. Ward wouldn't fight Bellew if there was no coin in it. He wouldn't pick the bones of a Stevenson victim if there was no coin in it. Boxing is a hard sport, I think its logical that most fighters want to optimize their time in the ring. Ward has just stepped up and taken a tough challenge in Kovalev - twice. I have no dramas with him now chasing a pay day.

    For once I agree.

However that Haye Bellew fought and beat was well over the hill past prime Haye that has no business fighting.

    Haye's body is/was done

Nice fight. I'd favor Ward in this matchup at either CW or HW. The difference in skill set is too massive in this one.

It's not moot, he was a LHW competitor and he got bobble headed by Adonis,
Why on Earth would Adonis rematch Bellew at HW or CW, Adonis is a SMW that
has overachieved at LHW, see how that works.

In Creed Bellew was p4p #1 and Ward was p4p #2! Epic fight!

He's doing the Roy Jones thing. Go up and beat the worst HW available and call it amazing. Just like Jones was saying he'd fight Lennox, Tyson, etc, and never did, Ward will never fight Joshua.

Yep. That said going up and fighting Ruiz(I've argued tooth and nail with people who praise that as an ATG win) tramples all over moving up and fighting Bellew.

Bellew is emeritus champ. After just two fights at CW.

Vitali was emeritus Champ. After a career at HW, how the heck they made Bellew champ after he beat BJ Flores and fought for the vacant WBC, which he never defended.

1.You don't even know what emeritus champ means. Champion in recess essentially.

Mayweather became emeritus champ when he retired after Paquaio. Ward was one due to his inactivity. And Vitali was given the title when he retired instead of fighting Stiverne.
It just means you can fight for your former belt whenever you want , its not a symbol of some spacial super duper champion like you think it is.

    2. Bellew beat Makabu for the WBC belt and defended it against Flores. Makabu was the biggest bogeyman in the divison at the time and Bellew wasn't given a hope in hell of succeeding. He destroyed Makabu in 3 rounds.
Its still one of the best wins in the division and he has just added David Haye at HW so by right he should be the favourite to beat Andre Ward if they fight

Didn't he just win back-to-back fights against the previously much feared Kovalev?
